Houston area guys.. Anyone have a hookup on GM diagnostics? (security light)
My car has recently popped the security light. Car runs fine, alarm works, has a new key. Been reading online that it could be a lock sensor or something like that the the scanner can read. Not looking to get raped on dealership fees to take 5 mins and hook up my car. will provide beer or something in return. Preferably on the southern side of houston.
Thanks

yea, i had a bad stock key about 6 months ago which kept me from starting the car, got a new key programmed and worked fine, the other day i noticed that the security light never turns off. The car starts, runs, locks, unlocks and will even set off the alarm from every door if i try to open it from the inside.
I googled it and the consensus is that you have to go to the dealership and get the tech2 hooked up and figure out if its a faulty lock sensor or the actual ignition cylinder. Its like 85 bucks to get chevy to hook it up and scan, plus price of any parts that need to be replaced.

Yea, the constant light, with the ability to still drive the car means that the system is not working or activated (so I read) but its odd because the doors and hatch will each activate the alarm if opened while locked, which I assume means it works...
I would assume that the GM scanner tool will locate the issue, because the security system will not throw codes like OBD2 trouble codes will.
