fast 92mm intake and t/b make a loud sucking sound??????
well i put a fast 92mm intake and t/b setup on my ls1 with heads and cam. when i first started it, it was making a loud sucking sound. i went and got it retuned and i thought it would stop the noise but it didnt. flaco told me i need to drill out the hole in t/b bigger. or is the sound normal and i just need to get used to it? my ls6 intake with a stock ported t/b didnt make the sound at all.
if i drill it out bigger will that stop the noise? also what size should the hole be?
i posted a pic of the t/b and a video of the sound.

its more then likely one of the intake gaskets isnt sealed right or has broke...just ran into a very simular problem with another car a few weeks ago making "a loud whistle noise" when running. It was caused by a broken intake gasket and the vacum of the air by passing the gasket into the intake was making that noise.

I hope it's just a gasket. When I get off of work today I'm going to spray some carb cleaner around it and see if I can find a leak. If not I'm going to pull the intake and put new gaskets and look it over real good to see if there's any cracks.

The vac reading he gets will vary with the cam. If its one of the larger aftermarket cams its no way its gonna be that high at idle. Also don't drill the TB hole unless the IAC counts are out of wack. Seeing as its been tuned, that doesn't seem to be the case. Standing in front of my car with a ported fast 90/90 its a noticeable whistle.

sounds like most of the noise is coming from your CAI setup

I have a ms3 cam. I pulled the cold air intake off when it was running and the noise sounds like it's coming from the two holes inside the t/b on the top.
So is that sound normal?

Given that cam your vac is gonna be in the 10-13 range depending on what the idle speed is (and im being broad cause other things have an effect on this). Ive learned to just live with the whistle. Car still makes power with no other ill effects.
