RPM Lifetime tune?
Ok so i got a lifetime tune from RPM in lewsiville and i guess they are out of business. Does anyone honor it? I heard a guy who worked there went somewhere else and honors it. Is this true?

You might want to do a search in the Texas section this has been asked before. I don't know if anyone honors them.
edit here's the post.

Just remember Matt is at another business who had no original ties with RPM. They are out there trying to make money like the next shop. So don't be surprised if they do not honor another shops "promise" due to being out of business.

That has got to be the worst idea ever to do life time tunes. I can understand doing discounted tunes for repeat customers that you already tuned their cars, just have them pay for dyno/shop time if needed, or maybe free if it was like a gear swap and you already did the tune before hand and were doing the gear swap, but lifetime? I just can't belive some one actually sat down and thought, life time tunes, that makes sense.

I thought "lifetime tune" was only for the "lifetime" of the setup, not the actual car. IE I get a bolt-on LS1 tuned and it runs rough on cold start or something, lifetime tune covers me bringing it back to get it fixed. Then 6mos later in 20* weather it's running really rough again, I bring it back and get it fixed. If I change the setup or add H/C, I have to pay for a whole new tune.

As a competitor G-Force should be all over this low hangin' fruit (free future customer). It's SMART business because it gets the customer frequenting YOUR shop so your can continue to get their loyal $'s. Its called retention folks. You also get an opportunity to upsell future modifications every visit. Ever wonder why some dealership offers FREE oil changes? Just think of how many people purchased unexpectadly while conveniently waiting in the NEW CAR isle. Very intellegent business model.

not exactly hard to save settings and then reload them onto your ecm. of course if you take it in there and the settings are the same then you will need to pay for them to diagnose the problem
Lifetime tune is an easy way to get you back in the door if your car is running rough so they can charge you to repair the actual problem

I had the lifetime tune from rpm, and since they have closed I followed matt to 21st century muscle cars and no its not free but fairly discounted to get re-tuned. You have to remember the shop has to make their $$$ too! I would recommend calling a week in advance cuz the shop is pretty busy!

I personally would have no expectations of an employee from a defunct shop honoring anything from a previous employer and business. More importantly I wouldnt expect the new employing shop owner to honor anything from a previously competing business. Would walmart honor an extended warranty from kmart? No.
