Default Best truck to put high miles on?

I am about to head back out on a pipeline job and need to pick up a truck within the next one or two months. I am thinking ballpark price range of $10,000 to $18,000 with me driving it on average 200 miles per day. I do not want to take the depreciation hit on a new one because ofthe miles.

Give me your suggestions on what to invest in for long term transportation.

I would love an '05-'06 2500 diesel but not in my budget range.

Either will work,

Should have included, might need to pull a tongue trailer with it eventually but no need for a 5th wheel as of now

What? That's exactly in your budget. A 2500 with a 6 speed would knock down 20's all day too.

I got a 05 ram 3500 6spd, perfect for what you need and well in your budget. I'd offer you my ford but it only gets around 18 highway.

If your interested in the dodge let me know and I'll get some pics. Has a 5th wheel hook up also and knocks down well over 20 highway.

If you dont mind rowing your own gears Id go with a 99-02 cummins manual. Stay away from the automatics.

I'm probably going to get flammed for posting this in a domestic forum, but f*** it, you asked and I just speak from personal experience.

I have a 2001 Toyota Tundra SR5 V8 4.7L. It has 300,000 miles. Spark plugs and wires were changed once in it's lifetime. It still has just about all the original parts in it including water pump, radiator, shocks, springs, etc. I have been known to miss oil changes up to 10,000k miles/7+ months at a time on it. I tow 30+ foot boats with it and have never had a transmission problem. After all these miles, it just FINALLY started leaking oil through the valve gaskets. I have literally abused and tried many methods to kill this thing, and it STILL has awesome compression. This mother f***er will just not die.

I'm almost convinced that this thing will outlive any offspring my offspring and their offspring will ever produce. Flame away clowns.

A Cummins Dodge with a 6 speed. Or a Powerstroke Ford, auto or manual. Duramax Chevy's are tough trucks too, but when really beaten on the IFS on a chevy will break before the straight axle ford or dodge. For whats its worth a freind of mine has a 6 speed manual 2000 F350 Powerstroke with over 400,000 miles on it.

I'll send some pics tonight.

The Titan and tundras are not bad trucks from personal experience. Just dont expect to tow anything and my dads Titan gets 10 city/11 highway and it throws a fit with an unloaded trailer.

Also deals are out there, got a 99 7.3 diesel crew cab 8 in lift on 37's for $8,000.
