I'm on the same boat...for the same exact trip. Uhaul is IMHO charging too much.

I'm renting a car trailer from uhaul this coming tuesday. It's running my $54 a day to go from Marietta,Ga to Narvon,PA and it's a 13:30 hour drive each way and we are doing it straight there and straight back. If you do a one way rental it might be cheaper.

So, you are currently in DFW but just need to pick up a car? Why not then rent the trailer for a day and drive it there empty?

With U-Haul if you do an "in town" rental you dont have to pay any milage. Just the daily rate. Only problem is their trailers are hard to get a low car onto!

I have rented a couple of enclosed Uhauls lately, they didn't ask if it was in town or out of town. 24 hours was something less than $40. If you rent from a place that is closed on sunday's, rent it on saturday and you can usually bring it back late and they won't charge you, at least that's what the last place I rented from said. One of the trust things.

Every time I have rented outside of u haul it has been 100/day. The u haul ones are pretty user friendly cause you don't have to buy straps- that is an extra $50 right there.

Will our cars (fbody) fit on a U-haul car trailer without any issues?

It really depends on how low your car is. I've had to take the front bumper off of an fbody ao it could make it all the way on.

the uhaul trailers tie downs are the ones that wrap around your front tires. i dont like those cause depending on what car you are pulling they are kinda a bitch to put on or does not allow most of the weight of the car sit on the front of the trailer. i have tie downs of my own and usually just use those as they are easier to use imo.
