Default FML blown trans - options

Well I brought the WS6 back to LMR to have them clean up the tune and they said the trans is stuck in 4th and it is pretty much f-ed.

It was rebuilt by 6speedrebuilders.com like 5 years ago per the previous owner with receipt.

Wasn't really looking to drop $2000 right now. :-/

F@!*

How much would a th400 swap be ugh. Just had to vent a little.

I might be able to get a th400 free, just have to buy a stall and ds?

It should not cost $2K to rebuild. They won't know what is wrong unless they open it up and inspect it. Could just be a couple cheap parts inside that are bad. LMR has a guy that rebuilds them, formerly at T56Rebuilds.com

I think it's nearly $700 just to drop and reinstall one so $1300 to build one with parts and labor doesn't seem that big of a reach.

$1200 to just fix what is wrong in the trans
$1500 to rebuild and fix what is wrong
$460 install

Just to give you a comparison....

At ACE I will remove and reinstall it for $300.00. I have charged that price for years and see no reason to charge more. That includes removing and inspecting the clutch, cleaning the pressure plate and reassembling that hardware. It does not include a rear main seal install if that's necessary. However, if the car has some funky exhaust or non typical aftermarket stuff that's in the way I do charge extra to deal with that aspect of the job.

On the tranny... with T-56's I charge $650 labor to go through them front to back.

Parts are on a as needed basis for repair type jobs.

On High Performance units part typically come in around $650 - $900 depending on what we do.

Hope that helps you make your decision...

That does help shed a little light on the subject. Thanks! I wouldn't mind trailing it to Dallas to save that kind of money plus we have family there anyways.

If Dallas is an option, I'd also give Jason at Texas Drivetrain Performance a call for a quote - he's got a great rep and specializes in T-56's

Thanks headhunter. Give us a call, we can help you out. We have units ready to swap out. Bring you trans to us or your complete car. We can swap out your trans for one of our units and tear yours down and charge you the difference. You can be out of here by noon time if you are here when we open. Our transmissions are $1900 outright for a stg2 build if you want to just pick one up. Call us directly at 817)300-6840 or call the shop at 817)847-7900.

For $2k you should get a hand job with it. I know when I built my vettes it was a hell of alot cheaper with labor.

I'll admit I was a little taken away by the pricing when it was done at their shop. :-/
