Default 4l60e re builder in Houston?

I'm about to throw a stall on my 4l60e that has 140K on it. It seems to shift fine now, but I'm thinking while I have it out for the converter, I should do something to freshen it up. I have less than 900 bucks right now so I'm debating if I should find a local shop that can rebuild it for a good price, or maybe try and source a junkyard trans with low miles somewhere. Can anybody chime in and turn me onto a good Transmission shop in the north houston area? Or perhaps a good place to buy used low mile 4l60e's?

I'm also debating on if I should do removal and reinstall myself to save money, I have never dropped the Trans before, but I have done a head swap and mounts.

circle d is well known for their stall converters but not for tranny rebuilds.... ive heard many not so good things about the transmissions they rebuild.

Do it right the first time. Circle D Transmissions will get it right.

Too many racers cut corners in this department and it bites them every time. There's only a few 4L60E specilatists and Cirlcle D is at the top of that list.IMO.

If you cheap out like many do, don't say you weren't warned ahead of time.

I called Circle D, but the estimates they gave me were very high, I could buy a stage 2 performabuilt for less than what they quoted me on a rebuild.

Yes sir....what he said.

You will save $$ initially, but the two transmissions are not even in the same league, I'm sorry. It's like comparing apples to peanuts.lol.

FWIW- Make sure your PB transmission comes with a bell housing and tailshaft.
