Default How can I tell if I got bad gasoline?

So I filled up last night, and everything was fine. I drove a couple of miles with no problems. This morning while I was driving, out of nowhere, my car loses power and sounds like a diesel. I give it gas and it barely accelerates, but the engine revs up. It will sometimes surge and get power back, then drive fine for a while. I just put some HEET in my tank and drove a couple of miles. It was on and off. I'm hoping it's just bad fuel and not something else.

You would notice it right away if the majority of the fuel in the tank was the bad fuel.

If its bad it should have a sour smell and a bitter taste.

Be careful driving it that way if it is bad gas, It will burn up cats (if you have them).

I used to attach a fuel pressure gauge to the service port on the fuel rail and pour a sample into a clean clear cup or bottle, let it sit for awhile, and inspect it. Usually if it's foul gas the fuel will separate from the water or anything else that's in it.

No cats here. I drove it for a few miles today and it only acted weird for a few seconds. I went to the gas station and told them i think i got some bad fuel from them so that they would check it out. I definitely don't want to get another tank of bad gas. I took it by a shop yesterday and they could find anything wrong with it. It wasn't throwing any codes. I also have a fuel pressure gauge in my car, and when it was going crazy yesterday, the gauge was fluctuating between 60-100+.
