Default 6.0L LQ4 on a budget

So I finally finished the build and am very happy with the results. I was shooting for somewhere in the neighborhood of 450hp and 400tq for around $5,000. I decided to go with a junk yard 6.0L Lq4. I put a set of L92 heads milled .030 stock ls3 intake with stock ls3 injectors, 92mm tb and rounded it out with a Pat G specd cam (226/234 .598 .612 lsa 113 +2). I also had Pat G tune it for me and am very impressed with his work. The car drives and acts better now than it ever has in the past. It has incredible street manners on everyday driving but delivers a hard punch with the press of the throttle. I've also got to add the last place to tune the car was lethal performance out of San Antonio, which did a horrible job for me and locked the computer without telling me about it. So when I took it all the way to Victoria the first time and found out about it I wasn't very happy at all. Then when they said they would only unlock it if i would pay for it, it really pissed me off. If anyone is thinking of taking their car to them I highly recommend reconsidering and going to talk to Pat G. Anyways I ended up putting down 466rwhp and 440rwtq for around $4300.

As long as you're happy with your motor that's that main focus.....

but with that being said, I've never dealt with Lethal in any way, but the whole locking the computer is dumb in my opinion....

Had my car tuned at lethal and the car never ran right. Took it to RPT in Austin and found out it had a stock tune thrown on it.. MTI was the last person to touch the ecm back in 04. They would never admit it..

As the previous owner (and brother to the op) I have to say that the tune from lethal was far from crap. In fact I picked up about 50rw torque and horsepower under the curve, can't say anything bad about that.

Secondly, it was the piece of **** salesman/ manager that pissed us off by trying to charge $100 for a pcm unlock. Danny did try and make it right but by then it was just to late.

Looks good man. Are you auto or manual? Your bro was telling me about your build. Its very similar to what I'm doing. '08 ly6 with same heads. Even the cam but I'm stuck between 2 Eps 226/234 .598/.602 113+3 (look familiar lol) or Eps 222/230 .600 lift 114 lsa . I had been leaning on the smaller one cause of fear of losing low end, and street ability. But you success is showing me something. Your dyno attachment is super small what does it look like in the 2000 rpm or better yet how does it feel?

Ok maybe I was a little hard on Lethal yes one person their ruined it for me there and Danny did try to make it right but the damage was done. Moving on @ Hy82e I wouldn't be afraid of going to the bigger cam sorry my graph is so small I'll try to fix it but at 2000rpm im at 130hp and 340tq at 3000rpm im at 220hp and 380tq. I reached max hp at 5600 and tq at 4600.

Nice! So are you running a manual? Got an idle clip yet?

i've got a forged 370 iron block motor with a cam spec'd by pat g, and i'll also be using him for the tune. seeing the numbers you made, i'm in high hopes for the upwards of 500rwhp.

nice numbers man!

Hy82e I was going to send ya a link to this but looks like you beat me to it. These numbers were through an m6/ mcleod twin and a 12 bolt with 4.10's.

Scj, with some nice ported heads, ported fast and more compression 500rw should be very doable.

Off topic, but..

I'm running a set of hand ported trick flow as cast 220's which flow tested a tad higher than TEA's port work on the 220's throughout the board. Milled to 60cc's putting me at 11.7:1 CR. through the kooks 1 7/8", fast 102, and custom pat g spec'd 235/238 .638/.615" 113LSA +3 camshaft. I see 500rwhp a very real possibility.
No?

Awesome. I have a very similar combination in my 69 C10. Hoping to fire it up for the first time this weekend. I would be very pleased with similar numbers.

You can but you run into valve clearance issues on the small bore motors so its not really worth it. There are some ls3 casting made for small bore applications but they are kind of pricey from what I remember.

Should have some track #'s, and hopefully vids too, in a couple weeks.

The car lost oil pressure and developed a hard knock about a month ago, didnt get a chance to make it down the track. As of now plans are for a TSP 408 with the same heads/cam as before or possibly another junkyard motor with a procharger. Either way the car should be running again by the end of the summer.

Sorry to hear about the bad luck bro. But at least you are staying positive and can see the 408 silver linings.
