Default those of you who daily your cars

I have a question for those of you who daily your f-body.

What tires do you run out back? I run a 275/45/17 sumitomo and driving in the rain just plain sucks. My cars *** end is all over the place in the rain and it just plain sucks. So what tire and size do you run and how does it perform for you in the rain?

315/35r17 Nitto nt05...... Take your foot off the gas, I have no issues unless its a down pour. Handled some snow with them as well.

295/35/18 Wide Ovals on the back of the C5Z06, no rain issues. The other F-body I just picked up has 315/35/17 Nitto 555R drags, that is a bit more exciting in the rain. I just drive slower and avoid the highway if possible. FWIW Those are coming off today!

MyFirstLS1, so you like those NT05s? They look like they might to a better job of channeling water. I don't have many tire choices with this size wheel in the back, could go with 555 Extremes, which are a normal street compound.

315/35/17 Nitto NT555 (non-DR) and the only time I have issues with rain is when the road is slick (like where the road is brick instead of asphalt.) Even then I never see issues at speed, only if taking a corner too fast or trying to accelerate out of a turn too quickly. If it's all asphalt then I never have problems unless I'm being stupid.

The only time in any of my F-Bodies that I almost **** myself was with bald ET Streets. That's a given though.

Same tire as Morbid for me. 315/35/17 Nitto 555...I don't ever have a problem if I'm driving normal. They do seem to be a little less forgiving in straight standing water but I don't think I've ever had a tire on any vehicle that didn't hydroplane alittle. When I started driving the car(it was my ex-wifes hs grad present that I got in the divorce) it had Kumho that sucked then she got some Toyo proxys(sp) and those things were horrible.

315/35/17 555R Drag radials. It only sucks on the last 3K out of the 17K I get out of them AND in a huge downpour. BUT the dry performance FAR outweighs the negative wet performance, IMO.

Absolutely love the NT05's, I made a huge jump from sumitomos to the NT05s... I cant believe how well they hook even cold. They really are a great tire all around even with the rain like I mentioned. Not expecting them to last long though.

+1 for the NT555. Never had any problems in the rain with those. I had Rikon Rapters before and those were just flat out horrible.

The damned concrete they used for 183/183A here in Austin make the 555r's absolutely horrendous to drive on in the rain. I still have them on mine, but I found a set of 16's I'll likely put a set of ET Streets on and put a set of the 555's instead of the 555r's on for DD.

I am running 275/40/17 Kumho Ecsta 4X KU22 and think they are a great tire. The grip better than my BFG's that I had form a dig and do great in the rain. They are also wearing great and very quite.
