Default Track requirements for drag cars?

I have a drag nova and been wanting to run it down the track. What are the requirements to run the car? I know the rules go by the time the car runs but that's it. Reason I ask is I'm sure the cage and stuff wont pass. I don't want to haul it all the way down there and have them say I can't run it.

Typically drag strips have a listing on their website of what the tech rules are; that would be my first stop.

Call up the local track your wanting to take the car to... Ask them what rules they go by.. Let them know what you have they will tell you Yes or no on if it will pass.

My track all the care about is if you have a helmet..

Take a helmet for sure. If you have a rollcage, you will probably need a 5 point harness. Regardless of what it runs. I know RPR will check that.

Someone's jealous...

And thanks guys I'll look into it. Always wanted a real drag car and can't wait to run it. Suppose to pull the wheels a foot off the ground.

Jealous, **** bring your drag car to SAR and I will drag it with my street car.

Pulling the tires doesn't win races.

I dont want to race you, take your **** talk elsewhere.

It's caged, backhalved, tubbed etc but it was built by the highschool so yeah. It's been ran down the track but with a different set up. It's an sbc and yeah its gonna need a ds loop.

Just some of the rules I can think of when last time I went to SAR:

- Battery has to be bolted down securely.
- If battery is re-located, then it has to have a cut-off switch.
- Helmet for cars 13.99 or faster.
- For cars 11.99 and faster a 6 point cage is needed.
- 10.99 or faster must have an 8 point cage
- 145+ trapping cars need a chute.
- if you have slicks a drive shaft loop is required
- Can't remember the exact rule, but it deals with the wheel studs - look it up.
- SFI 3.2A/1 jacket if the car runs 10.00 to 11.99

That's some of the basic rules... SAR is real strict, and they'll kick you out if you don't adhere to the safety rules. Just call them.

Do 1/8 mile runs and you won't need to do any of that.

Have u ever went down the track with anything fast? Practice and taking it easy at first would probably be my concern so u won't loose it and hit the wall. Be safe bro.

6pt cage for 11.99's? Damn.

Ive driven fast cars but no not down a track. I see what you mean though, test drove a 450hp trans am last week and **** can go wrong quick.

Thie thing only makes like 400 maybe a little more but it's purpose build and stripped so it's suppose to be pretty fast. I can't remember what it ran but I think it was on the 11's. Imma go drop off the rear end for it and I'll snap a few pics.

I'd completely go over that nova before you run it at all. It's got some nice parts but it's been taken apart and put back together many times by kids learning on it. Our class built the big block it used to have in it.

Correct as they began warning me in the 2011 about needing to get one soon. 11.5 + was fine
