Car runs fine, smokes extremely bad?
I have a 69 wildcat with a 430 big block, runs and drives beautifully but blows smoke out the back. What causes this? Bad rings? It's a lot driving around cruising but when I floor it I can put diesel trucks to shame.

The old automatic transmissions used a vacuum diaphragm based shift modulator. It could be that because it runs an intake manifold vacuum line to the back of the trans where the "Vacuum Modulator" is pushed in and bolted. If the diaphragm ever ruptures, which they did often, it allows the engine to suck ATF into the intake plenum where it mixes with the air/fuel charge. It's worse at part throttle cruise when the manifold vacuum is higher. It doesn't take much ATF to throw a screen of white billowing smoke, worse case examples will shut down traffic until it dissipates. Check for the vacuum line running back to the trans and see if it has oil residue in it. It should be dry. If it's that you need to replace the Vacuum Modulator then flush the line and refill the ATF. Other symptoms are late harsh shifts and continually having to add ATF to keep the trans full.

Why would I need to know what it is? Out of the 50 vehicles I've had, I've never had one do this.
Baffles me how much of a ******* loser you are. I'm sorry your car piece of **** car blows smoke everywhere all the time so you know how to diagnose those problems.

I would start with these posts. They seem spot on.
