Talking Video of my 209 mph Texas Mile pass!

Here are three different views of the same pass. Helmet cam, windshield cam, and rear bumper cam.

177.3 mph (half mile marker)
209.3 mph (one mile)

As you can see, it is challenging to use the good old "right foot" traction control system. The car likes to hit the limiter when the tires break loose. This was run on 19" Michelin tires, as the event has banned drag radials.

Why have drag radials been banned?

Congrats on hitting the deuce on multiple runs Tony. This is a culmination of years of hard work. You deserve to bask in the glory, at least for a little while. Well done my friend. Badass ride and great combo. Enjoyed visiting with you at the mile.

Are you into aero mods? Not like giant ACR wings on a street car.

I'm pretty sure I'd have cracked 210 with a lot of tape, removed mirrors, and zero external cameras. But, I'm not that concerned about taping up the whole car. Had I run 199.9, you can bet I'd be taping it up. My goal was anything over 200.0, with the car in street form. So, anything over 200 is good for me!

I won't be going back to the mile in this car, mission accomplished. Time to work on some other projects. I've got a 1969 Camaro convertible to restore (LS powered, of course)

Yes, that big bump is just before the 1/4-mile. It was big enough to make my rear tires unload and spin, which results in me hitting the limiter too soon. I did that on every pass, got used to it. The bump was actually smaller than it was last time, they sorta fixed it. The biggest bump was in the shut down area, which they have done an excellent job of reducing it.

I lifted just slightly on the first bump and it kept me from getting loose.

the sound is off but you can see it get sideways (this was before I was lifting).

Great job here Tony. Awesome accomplishment, especially since you did all the work yourself. I can only imagine the thrill of knowing something you personally wrenched on for years surpassed the goal set by such a large margin. I'm sure your still grinning ear to ear.

Job well done buddy!

You have no idea, Jason! I appreciate that. I celebrated by driving the Viper to work today, on my short 95 mile commute. Weather was perfect for windows down cruising. Even had some fella in a Porsche 911 non-turbo try to race me, the outcome was comical.
