Lost to the ZR1, so he committed seppuku. Only honorable thing to do.

F****** idiot. He had nowhere near enough altitude to wing-over like that. When you get to the peak of that maneuver, since the blades are at that point vertical instead of horizontal, the aircraft stalls and altitude is needed to have enough room to get enough airflow to recover.

Looked to me as if he was trying to show out a little bit.

Rookie pilot trying to show off maybe? I'm sure he learned a very valuable lesson.

He exceeded the aircraft's handling capabilities and drooped the rotor by demanding more power than the engine could offer the rotor system as he attempted to recover.

Poor matchup anyways, that old Cobra only has a single 1,800HP engine and isn't very fast. Modern equivalents have two engines, with the aircraft pushing close to 3,000HP per engine.

Well not only that, but with a rotory aircraft no lift can be achieved when it's on it's side! The rotors must be able to push DOWN towards the ground to achieve lift. He just made a very stupid/rookie mistake that could have gotten him and many others killed by not paying attention to his altitude while trying to perform a maneuver such as that! He didn't even get the Helo leveled back out before hitting the ground. Either he just said "**** it I don't know my altitude and don't care." Or somehow he confused his AGL altitude with ASL altitude(which again is a very stupid mistake!). But either way, he should've at least have been able to visually tell he didn't have enough altitude to perform a wing over like that.

I believe the Bell AH-1 Cobra top speed is only around 150(MPH or KNOTs don't remember)... Even if KNOTs that's only around 170MPH so agreed on poor matchup.
