Default All motor LS7 Z06 goes 201.4mph at Texas Mile

Congrats to Bobby Weige from New Ulm Texas beat many forced induction vehicles this weekend at the Texas Mile by going 201.4mph in his naturally aspirated C6 Z06. Most people didn’t give the black Z06 a second look when the hood was open because the only thing that looked different from stock was a FAST 102 intake manifold, long tube headers and a Vararam CAI. No nitrous lines, no superchargers or turbos, no meth injection. Factory LS7 block, factory LS7 head castings, quiet hydraulic cam. Such a sleeper.

The magic was all inside. A forged 468 created from a dry sleeve, Sonny Bryant crank, 25x/26x 108+2 comp hydraulic roller cam, 13.8:1 compression short block and Greg Good ported LS7 cylinder heads and FAST intake. Greg got the heads flowing 430+cfm and the FAST intake, while the Intake was the biggest choke in the combo it was massaged to make the most of its available flow. 60lb injectors were fed by a Lonnies Performance dual pump assembly and Shell URT was the fuel of choice. Erik Koenig did the engine machine work, Kurt Decker did all the engine, clutch, roll bar and fuel system installation while Patrick G handled the tuning.

The combo made 684 rwhp, 626rwtq on a Mustang dyno with a power peak at 6300 rpm. A sheet metal intake would be worth a solid 40-60 gain over the FAST 102 and will most likely be the next upgrade. Bobby’s Z06 went faster than a number of high profile Corvettes running superchargers. There was a heads/cam/D1SC C6 Z06 that ran 196mph and a highly publicized Zr1 with ported heads/blower/nitrous that ran 198mph on the same day. This is just to show you all-motor fans that it is possible to hit 200mph in the mile without forced induction in a combo that idles at 900 rpm and can be driven daily (albeit on race fuel but will be on e85 shortly).

The " highly publicized" Zr1 didn't make a full run with the nitrous. He did run 202 on Friday without the Nitrous or Meth on.

Congrats on the record!

Impressive N/A build, but I wouldn't be ******* on the FI guys who have arguably better street cars that can still perform on 93 octane pump gas, making more power. That is one serious engine build, even if the exterior appears mostly stock

Simple mistake on the nitrous. It was assumed when he purged his nitrous at the line that he was running it.

Very nice, and not surprising in the least! My C6Z with it's current mild, daily driver build did 190 at the texas mile when the guys from 510 took it out there. I can't wait to see an N/A LS7 C6Z break the 210mph mark. Maybe one day.

Thanks Bobby for the opportunity to be a part of this. Thanks Kurt, Patrick, Erik, and everyone else involved in this build.

This car has been talked about a LOT at SAM this past week.
