Default Just bought a 2005 GTO titled in Arizona

What exactly do I have to do to get it titled and registered in Texas?

On the Arizona title "Transfer of Ownership" section, the seller filled out the seller portion and I filled out the buyer portion. However, it says that the seller must complete this section and give the title to the new owner. Will this pose a problem?

What exactly does Texas require for its paperwork?

All you need to do is fill out the 130U form and get it inspected. When you get it inspected tell them you need the green form since the car needs to be titled in Texas.

The instructions say that it has to contain original signatures. So, I'll have to have the seller download the form, fill it out, and then mail it to me with his original signature.

I can take it to any place that does state inspections?

Yes, have them sign the form and send it to you.

Yes any inspection place can do it

What BadChad said, I bought my car from Tulsa and brought it back to Texas. All I had to do was get the papers signed and get it inspected and keep the green form, pretty easy process.

Okay. It looks like the seller needs to fill out sections 18, 21.a, and 22.

Maybe it varies by county tax office, but at least I've been able to register cars without the seller's signature in the 130U form. On cars both from Texas and out of state.

The ladies have sometimes complained about the missing signature, but usually they haven't said anything. I think only once I have had to go back and actually get it from the seller.

But, in case you want to avoid any hassles, of course it is best to have the form signed.

You don't need a seller sig on the tax form. Not anymore.

What are you calling the tax form - 130U?

Do I need to have 130U already signed before I get the inspection? Or can I get the inspection while I'm waiting for the signature from the seller?

You can get it inspected while you wait.

You don't need the 130U when you go get the inspection done. The inspection is just your normal yearly thing but you just need to ask them to also fill in the green sheet. It's like $1 extra.

With the green sheet, 130U and the original title in hand, go to the tax office, pay tax/title/registration fees and the title will be mailed to you in about 2-4 weeks.
