Default Houston guys Q about surrounding beaches

Heading to Houston in a couple weeks. What are some nice areas with good beach front open to the public? Thanks

too be honest I hate the public beaches, usually stay at rental on the west end of the island for a few days with family/friends..not nearly as many people to deal with.

Houston/Galveston have gross beaches. Go to Port Aransas if you are in that area and are white. Seriously though, some of the most racist shopkeepers there.

^ don't read too much into that a.d.d post

Like mentioned, go to west Galveston. Go to a paid entry pocket beach ($8). Officially, east beach is the only beach where alcohol is legal. But if you keep cans in a koozie, you won't get messed with.

Plus you won't be too far from the strand and the sea wall. Some cool bars and restaurants at both.

I have a house down in Pointe West and it's great down there. Clean beaches, no driving on the beach, water is a a lot clearer than near the channel, good restaurants on the West end, etc. Headin' down there in a couple of weeks as a matter of fact.
