Default Texas Mile 200mph Camaro crash video

Don't know if this is a repost, but this is the first time I've seen the footage of the KP Racing Camaro crash in the March 2013 Texas Mile. Amazingly the driver, Joe Huneycutt recovered fairly quickly from his injuries thanks to awesome chassis cage construction by John Harrison from Houston.

I never heard what caused the accident. Did it blow a tire? Aero lift?

The shooter of the video got the okay to release it yesterday. I'm pretty sure something came loose and cut a tire.

IIRC some of the lower ground effects dug into the track surface at speed causing the car to go airborne.

I don't think it ever belonged to LMR and I don't think they were working on it at that time.

Why would the shooter need to be cleared to release the video?

The car had some new aero work and full cage(by Harrison) done on the car with the help of KP racing and Tim P. From what I can remember is that some of the builders/fabricators say it was creating so much downforce it sheared a shock mount (this is hearsay from a long time ago now) which allowed the car to dig into the ground spinning/flipping the car.

Glad joe is in great health and bise & KP racing are working on another mile vehicle.

It cut a tire, the aero stuff was still attached to the parts of body that wasn't disintegrated, and LMR NEVER owned any part of this car. It was owned and funded by Kelly Bise.

1. Very glad that Joe made it out okay.

2. Does the girl in the video answer with "Camareo?/Camario?" when she was asked what car just crashed?

The Texas Mile 200MPH Full Crash - KP Racing *New Footage - YouTube
I was at the starting line when this pass was started and realized that something was wrong when the 1/2 mile speed was down. Huge cloud of dust could be seen from starting line and of course the emergency equipment rushed to the scene. I loved that Camaro.
