Default How old were you when you received your first moving violation... Tempting fate.

I was talking with a few friends the other day about when they received their fist ticket for a moving violation. Here is where the tempting fate part comes in... To this day I've never received a ticket for a moving violation; don't get me wrong I've been pulled over countless times and received boxes worth of NFLP tickets and one for insufficient tire tread while on slicks but that's it.

So, the question we have been asking ourselves is am I some sort of statistical anomaly, very lucky or is this more the norm? I've had a DL for almost 16 years. Out of the group of 11 people at the time of the conversation our ages ranging from 30-37 I was the only one that has not received a ticket for speeding or any other type of moving violation.

In 1996, the day after I got my DL. I was young and dumb once, but I wouldn't change a thing about my past.

About a month after getting my DL at 16, was doing 75 in a 35. He hit me with a failure to yield to a road sign because he didn't actually have his radar up. Funny thing was I just wasn't paying attention at all, not like I was intentionally speeding or racing. Went to court took a $100 driving class and got out though.

16 years old, 1986, within weeks of getting my license.

Offense: Excessive acceleration in a school zone (cop jargon for neutral drop in my dads V6 '85 S10 Blazer).

15 with a case of beer and a funnel in the back of my dads explorer. Lived in a small town where everyone knew everyone so the cop let me go. What was worse is he told my dad what happened the next week and dad unleashed on my ***. Would have rather gone to jail. Lol.

16 - one day after school. Showing off and got 4 tickets... Speeding, reckless driving, exhibition of accel and not wearing a seatbelt (I was- but was a lap belt).

Damn 350 2bbl car wouldn't spin the tires to save its life- he just heard the tires which was really me sliding. Guy was on off duty cop (Officer May... Never forget him) and said he would be watching me every day after school.

So I did what every smart 16 yr old would do- I went home and spray painted it black.

Still have the car and absolutely love driving it!

My first time to get pulled over was when I was 14 on a yamaha WR426 dirtbike on the road. Officer was my neighbor and was cool, just told me to keep it in the ditch next time and he wouldn't have a problem with it. I was pulled over countless times after that for speeding, exhaust violations, and even reckless driving once(which was false and just an ******* cop trying to get a kid in a Camaro in trouble with no video proof). None of them went on my record until I was 18 and was pulled over for doing 94 in a 45 along with my buddy(BlueLightning). We were at a stop light behind a mini van, light turned green but the van didn't go. There was constant traffic in the next lane so we could not pass him. I honked but the van still wouldn't go. When the light turned yellow the van punched it and peeled off and we took off and caught a break in traffic and blew his doors off, I let out at the top of 3rd gear. Well about 1/2 a mile up the road was our destination so we pulled in and as we pulled in a Texas State Trooper was flying in after us with lights and siren on. I thought for sure we'd be going to jail because he would assume we were racing. He go out and began yelling and cussing at us, "Get out of your F****** cars right now!" We got out and stood in front of our cars and then he asked why he shouldn't take us to jail for racing. My buddy explained that we weren't racing and what happened. The Trooper looked at us and said, "well that's still F****** stupid!" So he just gave us a ticket and told us not to act like idiots anymore. $350 ticket and the only one that has ever been on my record.

17 years old on my way to church during the summer time... Cop was sitting off to the side of the road right in front of the school zone sign. Saw the cop didn't pay much attention to him since the speed limit on the regular was 45. Got clocked 43 in a 35. Freaking summer school..
