He wasn't the one driving the car, nor was it being street raced, driven fast, yes, but don't let those facts get in the way of a good rant. The movies IMHO sucked, but they did open up the car world to a lot of young kids, who otherwise may have never shown interest in the hobby. Paul didn't seem like the typical hollyweirdo, he did a lot for charity, was truly a big car guy that was able to make a career out of it on film. Paul was a good dude.

We went. It sucked! Too long a wait to get into the parking garage, and for a bunch of car . ppl I saw a lot of no driving MF's LOL! There were a few nice cars and some high end cars. Fans of Fast and Furious would be proud lol! The import crowd made a big showing. We stayed for about 45min after walking around to see everything. So we did leave early. Before 9pm so we didn't get to witness the supper gay one minute REV event. But had a lot of previews while there lol! I could just be getting to damn old for some of the bullshit the younger kids do and think is cool. That was my personal review.

You sound like one of those people that think bracket racing ruined drag racing. In all actuality, it is one of the main things keeping it alive. Of course Hollywood got it wrong, they get everything wrong including reality TV. I wouldn't waste five minutes of my day watching Street Outlaws but it is good for the sport. To each his own.

Despite this being an old thread... I've had more than my fill of going to non track events with a bunch of fan boys standing around, taking up the good parking spots with their mom's Altima and screaming for us to do burn outs while holding up their camera phones to film crappy 30 second vertically shot videos. For a week after tx2k, whether I was at oriellys or at work I'd get some kid saying, "hey I saw your car at tx2k, i love your car." "You were there?" "Heck yeah!" "Why?" From the dig nights to the dyno nights to the meets, the sheer number of wannabes has made it more hassle than fun. If you aren't actively involved in the scene keep your butt at home. We put work and care into our cars, you don't get to block our cars in by double parking or pepper our cars with rocks while doing a burn out in your suburban, you don't belong.
