Default 5.0 or 5th gen or ?

So I was offered a nice chunk of change for my 2000 FRC and have been contemplating selling it. My questions are those who have made the switch, how did you like it? My FRC only has 48k on the clock with basic bolt ons (longtubes, vararam) but it is a DD and I feel like a 5.0 would be much better suited for the shitty roads in this city. Not to mention you can pick up brembo, 3.73 cars for next to nothing now. I was thinking 5th gens as well but I don't know I don't know if I want to pay more to go slower (no offense, they're just too damn heavy). Any advice?

I've driven my buddies 2 5.0 coyotes. They just don't do it for me. I'd take that chunk of change and put a blower and cam on your car.

I like my coyote, it is my DD now, nice car. I also looked at 1LEs as well, but could not pass on the rebates for the out going 2014s, basically amounted to an 8K discount! I really did like the 1LE though, very nice driver and a good value for the goodies you get!

2014 GT track pack, 3.73s, Brembos, Recaros
E85 & 93 tunes
47lb FRPP injectors (for E85)
Off Road X-Pipe
13/14 GT500 quad exhaust and valance
18X9 and 18X10 Forgestar Matte-Black CF5s, M&H racemasters out back

The car ******* moves out for the few mods it has. I keep telling myself I am going to leave it alone, lol...I daily drove my C5Z as well (4 years), the GT is much better for that duty on these shitty roads, there is no comparison w/regard to ride, features, comfort. The C5Z was faster, hands down no comparison.

It'd be my only car/daily driver so that's why I leaning towards it. If I keep my car I will probably take it to Chad and have him install a cam and clutch and call it quits. I think about the only I didn't like about the coyotes was the clutch, it felt like nothing was there. In the long run I feel like I can get a better interest rate and lower payments with the 5.0 than I can right now with my C5, and since I'll be hopefully attending medical school and won't be able to work, can save up some money for payments.

Stock for Stock I'd pick a 5.0L but if your going to mod it I'd pick a 5th gen. Yeah 5th gens are turds with the stock 3.27 gears and granny trans tune. I own a 5th gen I was in your shoes back 2013 but theres sooooo many 5.0s in my town I picked something different. I did my homework and well 10sec all motor 5th gens are pretty sweet
Only thing I dislike is its hard to see out of, hey im being honest lol

If I got a 5th gen, I'd throw a little cam and basic bolt ons and call it a day. I also have not driven a 5th gen, so I can't comment on them really. How does. A longtubed bolt on 5.0 stack up against a can only bolt on 5th gen?

They make around 430-440 RWHP, little more with CJ intake manifold, SCJ TB...They can hold their own...Full bolt-on cars with comp stage 3 intake and exhaust cams are making a little over 500 RWHP

A bolt on 5.0 will give a cam only 5th gen a run for its money just depends on how both cars are setup. A VVT cammed 5th gen will have a crazy low-end and topend . Less mods needed on a coyote to run nice.

I believe the GT is a stripper 300A gt, basic std equipment. Those Weld wheels help a lot, the factory wheels are heavy as ****, my factory 19s were 32lbs each, the CF5s I have now are 22lbs each. I think he deleted the front sway and support, no spare, aluminum DS, rear seat delete. The car still has still has AC etc..he may have a tubular K and control arms now, not a 100% sure though.

Yes, but it's not in daily driver trim. It's all relative, how much you want to change at the track and rip out of the car. I'd rather have the power all the time and not have to turn my car in a gutted, skinny/slicks car to run a number.

Ive seen some turboed 5th gens for 25k on CL. So that could be something you could possibly get unless you dont wanna turboed car or never had one before. Just something to think about.

I turned down the offer, and the girlfriend bought a set of BTR springs for a cam I'll undoubtedly buy after Christmas. Thanks for the help guys, after seeing how much I owe on the car I decided to just keep it and refinance it after I owe about 6 or 7 thousand.

Those are good springs, been running Tooley's duals in my 99 for awhile now. I would also consider his trunion upgrade for your stock rockers.

I ran them with my old f13 in my fbody, it worked so well that I'll probably buy another f13 again.

You can make those 5th Gen move. It's has the ls3 and that's a great start. I would keep the vette though.
