Default Houston area engine pullouts and salvage yards?

Where in the Houston area are you guys getting your engines from? I have several projects going and I'm looking for a couple of 5.3's and 6.0's. Been searching classifieds on a couple of forums and craigslist, but I'm usually too late or it seems that guys want gold for what they actually have.

So where are some decent places to get truck engine pullouts from in the Houston area without having to trade my firstborn for them. Cash buyer.

Hit and miss man. You got to watch LKQ web site. They had a complete LY6 for 1050$ a little bit back and I should have picked it up.

I check LKQ, but not nearly often enough. And I really hate trying to sift through all the craigslist bullshit. I always hear of these great deals, but I never seem to run across them. I missed out on one at the last swap meet my dad went to, a 2002 6.0 the guy was asking $350 for. The swap meets seem real hit or miss for LS stuff though, I'm usually just looking for old sheet metal for the 34 and 46 trucks.

Gotta lowball them cg sellers. Otherwise you just have to look all the time and hunt down THAT deal.

I've waited over a year to find certain parts I shouldn't be able to afford LOL

Called LKQ this morning, an L33 popped up for $950 on their site.

188k miles, and it's actually in Kansas. After shipping, taxes and core charge they wanted $1400.

So, I'm still looking. Would really like to find an L33 or 6.0. Or two, lol.

I used to always hit up Airline @ I45. There are dozens of auto salvage places.

For 5.3's just go to any LKQ location early. Pull heads and verify cylinders condition. When you find a good one pull it and check bearings/crank. You can get a complete one for $399, I believe. $240 for long blocks.

There are a dozen salvage yards in Pasadena, but haggle with them. They do ask for too much just like everyone else in Houston. Google" Pasadena TX Salvage Yard" and a big list will come up. Any 6.0, 5.3, ect. on Craigslist are rare unless a shop is selling a bunch of them. I see ads that companies are selling them often.

Most of the ads on craigslist are out of town/state places. Found one in San antonio, and two out of state.

I don't know if you seen this one. It's a fair deal. I'm on Craigslist everyday looking for deals on car parts. I send too much time on it really. If I find something good I'll try and send it to you.
