Third Gen Swap Debate
#21
LOL. Almost every LS car I have ever worked on, tuned, or even helped out with has made that damn sewing machine sound. I did say most. I just finished up a heads, cam, bolt on set up in a TA for my dad and it's quiet as a mouse. I set the preload at .060

I had an 89 GTA and I loved that car. I still miss it. Every time I see a really nice third gen like this one, I think "cool". But when I see a clean third gen with a really well done LS swap, I think "bad ***"!
To me, the TPIs were just too temperamental. The LSs just go and go and don't really give you a lot of problems. My $.02.
Good luck with it.

There are some temperamental things about a third gen SBC but it mostly comes from the FI system and the wiring. Hopefully switching it to the new PCM will eliminate most of the chance of that. Also, this will allow me to make just a few pin out changes and some tuning if I do decide to go LS in the future. If I do the PCM conversion it will get the 58 psi fuel set up and a 4L65E. The main thing I don't like about the third gen is the shitty exhaust options.
