I'd rather spend 14k on a running, drivable, NON wrecked vette. No way you'd make that much by parting it out. Maybe he ment 1400...

Been looking for a C5 for a while now and I am encountering a lot of people that are out of their minds. If a high mile, running C5 is worth 8K, then your high mile C5 that needs engine/transmission work is worth $4-5K to someone doing his own work.

If I have to work on it, then when it's all said and done, it has to be at least 2K cheaper than the cost of a running one. People don't seem to get that.

What's a low mile virgin C5 worth nowadays?
Say a 6spd non-Z06 with targa tops? Auto worth more or less?

10-12k
There are millions for sale but only a hand full actually sell. If people would actually admit to what they take for these cars things would look a lot different. If you ever get a chance to go to a dealer only auction you will be wishing you had some cash to drop.

I see high mile ones go through Manheim for around 7K, the low mile ones still go high. Sub 60K mile 01 vettes go for around 15-16k. I saw a nice C5z go for 17K.

It's really not, especially around tax season, I can get better deals off craigslist, but the auctions are convenient.
