Friendly inspection station in DFW?
I have a 96 Caddy Deville and its throwing SES light and code P0717 which is for Transmission Input Speed Sensor. The tranny works fine, no hard shifts, missing gears etc. No emissions codes at all.
The problem is, however, that now I need to get the car inspected, and since the SES light is on, it will fail even though the code has nothing to do with emissions.
I can reset the light and it will be gone for a little while (5-10 miles, maybe), but it always comes back. In the usual GM genius thinking, the sensor is replaceable, but it is buried deep inside the tranny and requires ridiculous amount of work to get to.
Hence, looking for a friendly station...

Reset it in the parking lot down the street. It should stay off long enough to pass.
That's what I did for my cat conv that threw an efficiency code on the 29th day of the month w/ insp due.
