When you're in a C5 you're pretty much stuck with the 4L60E unless you want to spend ~$10,000 for a 4L80E swap or more, depending on the transmission, so I doubt there was much to be lost by switching to the T56.

The real reason, a 4L60 is a piece of **** and I couldn't manage to talk him in to a 4L80 swap. I tried.

My brother had a c5 did a auto swap to a 4l60 handled 800hp for some time now..guess it's who tunes and who builds it,also there is more to it than just throw a trans in it and wish for the best, you know there is controllers for the trans that help them live for awhile also.

Do you know how retardedly expensive it is to build a 4L60E for that kind of power? Even then, it's less about who builds it and more about luck and certain driving conditions

Yep not as much as u think.i don't know what u call expensive but he had about 2k in it and came with 1yr full warranty, the car made power he had billet shaft it twisted it one time and broke a case, but guess what the builder warranty it and then he put the brace on it and never had a problem..

Yea, they are on borrowed time. Never seen one hold my abuse at any level.

You like to assume too much. The 80 coupe has a "electric" 4L80, so does the 86 trans am. 4 of my LS powered rides are EFI, but I guess you are just playing and don't know what all I have.

Exactly, and they are borrowed time. Never seen one that is abused like a 6 speed or 4L80 and live. You can usually break a 4L80 and it will still go.

Put the 80 on the 86 TA long before I built the mustang. Hell, the old 94 GMC ECSB I had was carbed 4.8 with a electrically controlled 2001 4L60 years before. It couldn't handle the ***** *** 4.8, lost 1st gear and only
Takes off in 2nd.
