Default Looking to snag a Corvette.

I have not posted here in a long time. I have the itch for a C5 or early C6, mostly for budget reasons. I have read the stuff to look for on a C5, but can't seem to find squat for a C6. What are the good and bad things to look for on 05-06 C6 automatic coupe? I did a search. Any pointers would be great and thanks in advance. In 2014 I sold my 2002 SS clone because it was too much to deal with, and caused nothing but drama. I'm hoping to not have that issue again. The next car will be a car I keep for a really long time. Right now I have a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T that is a fine car, but it's just not what I want. I have to either sell the Charger or trade it in. So if anyone might have an interest please say so. Again thanks for reading this, and helping me out.

From your avatar and comments about your F body, maybe budget minded Vette wouldn't be your best bet either.

I would check out the Corvette forum and go to each: the C5 and C6 sections and post the same question. I have a nice '03 that I've had since '05, it has 172k on the body and 43k on the engine. Yes I've had my share of gremlins, but love the car. I've had the same problem since '08 whenever it rains, it runs like crap. It's been to 5 reputable shops and NO ONE can find it, with that being said,I love this car. I've been thinking of selling to move to a C7, but I'm not going to give it away. I'd rather keep it and then get a new one. In my opinion, the C5 is the better looking, the C6 handles better. L8R DFLASH

I say that because most Corvette problems start when the enter the budget zone. They don't do well if the aren't garage kept and meticulously maintained. Rattling plastic and dirt road suspension are some of the most common issues.

Oh, it will be. My Camaro was modified so much it killed the reliability. At most I will do is a tune and exhaust. Thanks though.

I would stay away from the 05 C6. Mainly because it was the first year of the C6 and it has a documented weaker rear differential. 05-07 have the 6.0 LS2, 08-13 have the 6.2 LS3. Can't help you with the Automatic thing, I would never own a corvette with an auto. It's relatively easy to find a stock-ish Auto C5 or C6 though. Good luck, I have always loved Corvettes and now that I own one I can't believe I waited as long as I did to buy one.

I drive mine every now and then...

C5's are a great platform... I would personally stay away from the 97-00 unless it was a 99-00 FRC.... The 01-04's are better cars....
