Default 1969 Camaro project update

Haven't put much information in the TX section as most of it has been in Conversions / Hybrid section but figured a milestone like this needs to be shared here.

Been working on this car for just over 7 years at this point and it's finally nearing completion. It has made it maiden voyage on the road!

Come over tomorrow and let's get the front on it. I can be convinced to take it out again and this time maybe log a bit.

It was a tough vacation out of the country after driving the car as all i could think about was getting back to work on it. After 8 days gone, i landed mid day Saturday and went right back into the garage to do some test fitting.

Headliner arrived while I was away so I had a friend put it in my garage and take it out of the box for some inspection. Looks good! (thanks MCB for rushing TMI to beat their 4-6 week lead time, and thanks TMI for making it happen!)

TMI One-piece in bedford grain vinyl.

As soon as I got home, I went to put it in, to see if it would clear the cage.

Tough with one person but I got it over the main hoop which was my primary concern! Has some minor interference in the back but I think with a second set of hands, it'll be no major issue to get it past.

Headliner came back out and thermal insulation and finishing the dynamat became the objective. Seats came back out and will remain out till carpet is installed.

While waiting on the carpet to "relax" i took to the front end. Getting the headlight buckets mounted proved more difficult than just bolting them in, as the intercoolers occupy some shared space. Minor modifications and they're in.

Since it shares some hardware I also installed the autorad coolant overflow. Moved slightly as the supplied bracket doesn't fit with the turbo kit. Using a mount from MightyMouse (catch can mount) I secured the overflow to it's new home.

I had some difficulty getting the lower fender extensions and the lower valence installed. Aftermarket valence and original extensions. Definitely was not fun, filing and cutting on a painted piece to make it line up correctly. Gotta love old cars and fit/finish!
(Sorry for the bad pic, too much backlight in the garage for a good front shot with the front panels installed.

Thanks. Hope it starts getting out to meets before too long. More than likely some northside meets before I venture too far away from home.

Pretty sure all my junk together isn't worth what this one car is. Lol

I'll have a first gen one day. Till then I'll sit here and be jealous.

Be glad they don't. Too much money spent on this car by a long shot.

I've been sitting back and being jealous of everyone else since I sold my 2010 back in 2013. -'d hell technically since I stopped racing my 99! It's time to have car fun again!

Small update. Got the headlights installed and wired up, horns wired up too. Need a hub puller so I can hook up the turn signal arm to ensure those work, and to hook up the horn button. May try to get that tomorrow, as well as a few other things.

Now to pics!
Headlights installed.

Horns Installed.

Wired up the lights and installed some front paneling (header panel). Pushed it out of the garage for a bit of sun, and to clean the garage as it has become a mess again!

Thanks. Still plugging on it. Raised it a bit to hope to get it more drivable. I can work it back down after.

Still having speedo issues with racepak but it'll get worked out.

Some progress and some revelations I think.

Rear bumper installed.

Got the hood installed and cut it for the aerocatch hood latch installation with some help of friends.

No turning back now!

Got the grille installed also. Still have to get the headlight buckets trimmed, painted and installed to finish that up. Front end has some fitment issues but nothing I can do about it. All goes back to some of the fab work on the car.

1969 Camaro project update-ghsd6hk.jpg

Still working on getting the front bumper on, but that will be another day.

Got the ride height setup (tall) so I can drive around without rubbing fenders, so far so good on that front. Will work it back down after i get a few more things sorted. (Dont mind the rear bumper pointing down, didn't realize it needed to be adjusted at that time, I will get it sorted in the coming days. Got the horn working too. No pics of that as nothing to see, and video not uploaded. It's comically loud!
1969 Camaro project update-rjfn3oz.jpg

After getting this stuff together, I decided to take it around the block and hit up a straight wide section. Car saw 6-6500 and 9psi boost. I think it's fair to say, I will likely be dropping the spring in it and planning to start out a little slower. Walk before you can run situation. Car feels unruly at low speed. It hooked but just a little too violent for me to learn with. Hoping to get it more road legal and put some miles on it next weekend.

Today was a big day as it's the first day the car has legitimately seen the street. And it was AWESOME!!!

Got about 20-30mi in. Got to see some throttle in 2-3 instead of a little in first. It's fast. Damn fast. Faster than anything I've had. And by a significant margin. Haze 345 drag radials at 50-60mph fast rolling into throttle.

I can't wait to get it tuned and turned up!!!
