Default I know its a Ford, but just lookin out for my fellow streetcar drivers

Heres my latest Motorcraft Fuel filter fail........ WTF!

Decided it was time for some maintenance on the Ole Cobra after my last track outing and after replacing the plugs it was on to the fuel filter swap.Simple enough I ran down to the parts store and grabbed me a ole reliable Motorcraft FG-986B.With no hesitation I remove the old one and open the box only to find that the new filter has no markings on it other than MADE IN CHINA on it.I quickly box it up and run down to the parts store and demand a full refund. After the parts guy ask me what the reason was I quickly let him know that ive been robbed.Him being a car guy he sides with me in helping find a resolution. Long story short after going through a couple of boxes we find the ole reliable MADE IN THE USA stamp on one and I leave a happy customer.Anybody else been through this before?

Where these over the counter on the shelf?

Sometimes guys swap a good filter in to a cheaper box and put the **** parts in the good box.

Or possible someone went through the hassle of buying both a good and a cheap brand, reboxed and returned the crappy one in the good box.

Lol oem dealer American car parts are usually a joke, a good 90% are made in third world countries.

Ford probably has two different lines, they do that in certain items. The motorcraft stamped one is probably what you would get at ford, the china stamped is probably your typical autozone motorcraft. I say that because I called to order brake pads for a Cobra one day at a Ford dealer and they asked me if I wanted motorcraft pads or ford pads.. I said what's the difference? He said about $100. Apparently Ford makes a OEM level replacement part and a general replacement.

yep and chances are it's happening at the distributor unknowingly buying/selling counterfeits from china...or perhaps they know and are trying to increase profit margins.

WIX is my go-to brand for filters. Most of their stuff is USA made. Stay away from their transmission filters, they're chinese. AC Delco is marked "Filtran" and USA on it.
