I dont know if I agree with that- I have to listen to their shop all day. Still waiting on the sound proofing they were working on a year ago.

Well like any speed shop there are always people who love/hate them. I can only speak from my first hand experiences which over the years have been many. Maybe it's because I'm a Datsun guy? Any who.. Sorry to hear you haven't had the same experiences.

Oh no- I have no idea about their work and not trying to bash that.

Last time I was in there complaining about evening dyno pulls with no exhaust the managers mom tried to call the cops on me.

Lol funny you mention that. I was just in there this morning and noticed the houses right behind the new shop. Seems like it would be an issue.

Yea it's really a problem (for us) and the guys that work there don't care (why should they really?) until it becomes a legal issue. Then it will become a priority and suddenly the will have the $$ to resolve it.

So the world works unfortunately. That dyno is in the back of the shop (closest to the homes huh?)

The guys at Rehab fixed the sand blaster issue but I hear they are moving.

No milk- Coors light. I think anyone would be tired of this and look for a solution.

Don't have a problem with the shop, don't know anything about their work. Do have a problem with them not stepping up and finding a solution. Guy has been saying the same line since they moved in. Apparently they figured it would be an issue and had a plan- then ran out of $$.

Guess I will just have to wait until they run out of money and move to a cheaper place.

Sort of.... you have the right to enjoy your property just like they have rights to operate a business. Let's be honest it'll be hard to sell your house for full value if buyer does a walk through and shop has a race car doing pulls. Other side of that coin it'll be hard for them to run their business if they can't operate a dyno.

Shops aren't supposed to make excessive noise at certain hours. I know because I have 3 shops that back up to people's homes and we have to operate around restrictions that allow my neighbors to call the law if/when we breach those hours. Some neighbors are cooler than others.

CYA policy - Document the times you are disturbed while trying to enjoy your peace, what you did about it, and what they did about it.

Good neighbors policy - Let PowerFab know that you and your neighbors aren't able to enjoy peace at reasonable times. If you can all come to a fair arrangement there can be peace. If they realistically operate through the night then it becomes a legal negotiation..... usually leading to the business relocating in X months (depends who's there first).

I worder exactly what the hours are for noise ordinance. I bet there there aren't any in black and white. I would think disturbing the peace could be complained about at any hour. That would drive me batshit crazy if I had to listen to that during the middle of the day on night shift.

Well when Jon was using there dyno a few Sat. ago. They did have up some sound deadening material behind the door with the one loaded Dyno that stuff didn't look cheap at all. We have something similar at ExxonMobil around some of our noisy areas and it works pretty good. There's seemed to do decent as I went on both sides during a pull. Now on the dyno Jet I didn't see the same stuff and it was facing the opposite way. But this happens more and more as industrial area's that back up to Neighbor hoods and a lot of PPL don't care who was there first. Its one of the reason's some of the race tracks are having to close. Pretty sad situation, but I hope you guys can get to a peaceful arrangement. I'll just say to try and keep being polite, and be the squeaky wheel, about hours of operation's of the dyno.GL!

Some jurisdictions like City of Houston (7am-10pm) have fairly black and white rules. They still issue special permits for various reasons and some applications like an airport are completely protected. If the city doesn't allow for a permit renewal its a kill shot for certain businesses: race track, gun range, night club/bar, hot rod shop.

Trying to understand how the shop is laid out... Does one or both of the dynos have an open bay facing towards people's homes? That would be a dick move and they should do something about it. AFAIK the PowerFab folks try to do it right and I wouldn't want to see a legit business get shut down for something like this. Especially while gypsy shops are out there conning people. Inspector's squeaky wheel idea sounds right for this.

I'd say that's pretty black and white. That is not very loud and I'd bet your average street car would well surpass it. This would especially be the case with a car strapped to a load. This brings up new questions of whether or not I should get a dyno.
