anyone else get ridiculed for their hobby? it seems that every time i talk to my dad about my car he has something negative to say about it. he's an old school hot rodder, and boat racer so he's not easy to impress or push over a new concept on. he always tells me that it's a waste, BUT, every now and then he comes up and starts asking questions about the car and the LS1 "stuff" haha, anyways, i know he respects what i do but he still has to bitch about it because it's not an SBC and doesn't have a mechanical fuel pump or carburator. anyone else get similar treatment from family, friends, wife etc?

mine doesn't hate my car, i just think he doesn't fully understand how insanely adjustable and easy it is to make a huge cam idle easily with EFI. he'll come around when he sees his boy makin 8second passes in the Z....

my dads the same way, he says i should focus my time more on school than my car, but everytime I do something new to my car he always gets intrested and whats to know more aobut it

My dad use to tell me negative stuff about my cars but now he acts enthuised yet still thinks its childish and i will grow out of it, im 22....its never gonna stop.

mine doesn't hate my car. he just doesn't like me "fixing" it. he says everything that i do to my car is pointless cause no one else wants it and it's just a waste of time and money... dumb.

all are dads think alike yet deep down inside they love it lol... they just want us to do better and have it easier then they did, soo that later on we can have even bigger and better toys.

mine got me started w/ cars. Hell when i got my license, he showed me his old drag racing spots around the country....
he would on occasion bitch about the money i spend, but then i let him drive and he is like "whats next???!!!!!"

my dad always asks me why i wanna make my car go a few seconds faster in the 1/4....he always jokes and tells me i should just get a watch that goes slower, haha.

My Dad doesn't like Fords, but for some reason he hasn't totally disowned me yet!
I got lucky in the parents department, they understand how crazy I am about my motorsports, and pretty much let me do my own thing: within reason, and granted its my cash(for the most part!).

see, i'm with you stang man, my dad owned his own company building race and recreation boats so he's definatly into the racing hobby, my mom managed the company and helped where she could with the races etc in the past so they understand and respect it. my girlfriend loves the car and can't wait till it's running again so i can start racing. she's learning about torque converters and turbos right now...that's my baby.

Ya my dad & older brother are old school racers!! They just make fun of my car and almost everything I do to it. They make fun of it when I break something and call it a pos. Everytime I put something in it they say its not gonna help...........then they ask if it helped and I say YES they call me a LIAR!! LMAO..........
