Could have been an aftermarket TKO 5-speed, which can be had with a 600 ft-lb rating (which is higher than the T56's 450).

Everything else on the car is custom, why stop with the tranny?

I think this particular car was a one up built by GM. It had a 572 in it. I saw it on Hot Rod tv or Car and Driver like 2 or 3 years ago. It was built to run against a Mustang of similiar power output. Actually I think the Mustang had a little more power. They ran them on a road coarse and in the 1/4.

The Camaro was faster on the road coarse and if I remember correctly it was quicker at the strip too. I think the Camaro tore the rear end up and the Mustang had some mechanical problems so they didn't get but a few runs in the 1/4. I think the Camaro was fixed within a few hours because of a spare rear end but the Mustang was still having problems.

I will look around and see if I can find the video. If I find it I will post it.

Yeah this is not the ZL1 cars that GMMG is producing. This was a custom one of a kind that the GM built with ans Old school Big block and a custom twin TB intake etc..It was a five speed that was build by an aftermarket co like Richmond or some one like that to with stand the HP and TQ. Very nice car they just installed an updated front end on the car apparently. I have the issue somewhere.

Mustang was the "BOSS" and it had a quicker ET in the 1/4 mile.

Saw that thing at SEMA like 3 or 4 years ago. Totally Sick. They started it up (it was on the Concourse outside) and it felt like 10 people were standing on my chest. Greatest feeling ever!

The Mustang Boss was quicker and faster in the 1/4, and in the road course it was 1/100th slower on its first warm up lap than the camaros fastest lap... then the oil pressure on the ford was going crazy so they just ended it on that note. The mustang had a 650+ cuin motor... i had a view videos of it but i erased them.

I was to understand that it was an automatic transmission. It sounds like its an auto in the video but I may be wrong. Sweet car either way.

all the sources say that its a manual, but yeah the vid sounds like a 5-spd. i dont think anyone really knows much about this car so they may have just made 2 or 3 since it was a concept. its weird because it has the body of the ls1 4th gen but the interior of the lt1s. yeah it is a 5 spd and it runs a little faster, not slower, than that mustang, but the mustang has a little bigger engine. the mustang is a 3 spd also.

here are links to pages for both.

GM switched the LT1 front end out in favor for the LS1 front end. Look at the model year of the mustang, its a mid-90's model. From what I remember Car and Driver tested them in the 1/4 mile and stang was faster.
