Lonestar Motorsports Park - Open January 6, 2006
We will be re-opening Lonestar Raceway Park, now also known as LONESTAR MOTORSPORTS PARK on Friday, January 6, 2006. For those who dont know, Lonestar is one of the fastest 1/8 mile dragstrips in the country. Its located on Interstate 10 just west of Sealy, TX off of exit 713. This is about a 40 minute drive from the beltway and I-10.
We will be open every Friday for test and tune. At some point we also hope to begin offering some sort of bracket, index or points series that will be run on Sundays during the day.
Full details on the track, including 2006 schedule will be listed on the track website soon.
We hope to offer some new and interesting programs for 2006 that appeal to guys with street cars and bikes, including:
0-60 MPH CHALLENGE (classes for street tires, FWD, AWD, DR and a bike class)
TRAP SPEED RACES - WINNERS ARE DETERMINED BY MPH AND NOT ET
And we hope to have the track extended to 1/4 mile some time in 2006. We may also do some sort of LS1/Ls2, Fbody / Corvette / GTO points series that would encourage the San Antonio and Austin guys to come race the Houston guys.
Thanks for your continued interest and I look forward to meeting you at LONESTAR MOTORSPORTS PARK in the near future.

Good info John.
One suggestion, if it hasn't been addressed yet. The last time I went to Sealy, the waterbox was so narrow that anyone racing on radial tires had to drive right thru the water. This would track the water up to the launch pad, since most radial racers do not need to do a burnout. Could you try and widen the waterbox so that non-drag tire cars can drive around the water?

John,
Is the park still opening up on the 6th? Haven't heard anyone talking about it or getting ramped up to go. I hope so, my wife and I are looking to come out and support the new track!

We drove right by the track as we were heading west on I-10 this past weekend. Since we had our trip odometer set, we took a glance and the track is 44 miles from our house (HRP is 55 miles). It will be nice to have the track expanded.

So, is it open or not this friday? A friend called yesterday or today and was told no.. possibly next weekend, or the following, but not the 6th b/c there was "too much stuff left to do".

I dunno, I thought he called the number from the new website...
http://www.lonestarmotorsportspark.com
"713-466-3420"
I just called that number and got an automated message system for Hennessey Motorsports. "Press 1 to leave a general message, press 2 to leave a message for Hennessey Wheels.... bla bla bla..."
So I dunno. Atleast it's an active number. Maybe they are out to lunch. :dunno:
EDIT: I just went to the site again, and the "jan 6" was replaced with "in January". I think that answers our question.
