Question - Please respond with any info about this Z06
There is a 2001 yellow w/ yellow&black interior Z06 for sale at a use car lot in navasota - they want $28995 for it - it has 21k miles on it and has only one owner

is this good price?

what was the first year of the z06? and is this year z06 a good year or not?

I have not seen it up close but i will be stopping by there on my way home this afternoon to check it out

any other info about this would be helpful

What do most of you get in mpg highway miles in your Z06?

thanks in advance
Al

its on the high end for an 01 you can find 02s for that price fairly easy.
if you can afford that price check some of the vette boards.

i see that vette everyday going to cs, looks nice from the outside (from far away at least)

Mine is for sale, too. ~26.5K miles.

I average 18-19MPG overall, and get around 22-25 MPG on the highway if I keep it under 100 MPH or so.

2001 was the first year of the Z05, rated at 385HP. '02-'04 got bumped to 405HP.

01 is the first year but most of the things they changed to make more power you are going to upgrade again anyway. for example the cam. part of the 20 they added was a little bigger cam. 2nd was valve springs not really a power adder but if you do a cam you are going to do springs. they upgraded shocks as well but its not a huge upgrade. these are just some of the changes that they made. as far as the price that is kinda on the high side for an 01 and i am sure they will negotiate on price just like any other dealership. i bought mine almost years ago now for 29990 just give you an idea. good luck and you will not regret it. i know i havent.

differences between 2001 & 2002 & up:
1. The LS6 engine standard in the Z06 increased from 385 to 405 horsepower. Torque increased from 385 to 400 lb-ft.
2. Front fender badges for Z06 models included the 405 HP designation.
3. LS6 exhaust back pressure was reduced by 16%
4. Cam shaft was redesigned resulting in increased lift and a 5% increase in air flow
5. Valve spring material composition was changed to increase seat load by 14%.
6. LS6 intake and exhaust valves were a new, lighter design.
7. The valve train weight was reduced by 0.81 pounds, which improved valve seating at high rpm.
8.Airflow over the LS6 MAF sensor was increased by removing grid work
9. MAF software was re calibrated
10. LS6 air cleaner housing had a larger intake
11. Wheels looked the same BUT they were cast spun instead of forged for a weight savings of 1.3 pounds per car
12. rear shock valving was changed
13. Improved clutch
14. Thicker front anti-sway bar
15. New front brake pads
16. HUD was standard (HUD was not avaliable in 2001 cars)
17. 2004 introduced a new fuel system which carries over into the new C6.

i think you left out a couple other changes gm made from 01-02

I love my '01 Bought mine with 4k miles for 30k a year ago almost to the date! Everyone always talks about the oil consumption problems but I mean, what LS1 doesn't burn some oil? Also, the 01's have 2 pup cats as compared to the 02's 2 single cats. Good luck!

thanks for the info...

i went by there yesterday afternoon and it was being washed when i got there - so that may be there reason it was not in it's usual spot...

well, it's looks pretty good but all four tires are bald, the fuel gage doen't work and on the driver side door, there is a piece about an inch or so long broken off the corner above the handle (that doesnnt look good at all)

the car has aftermarket headers, h-pipe and borla...

not to sure if i'll be getting this or not - i currrently am working on anoter deal with someone else on another z06 - so we'll see....

Yeah the 01's have 2 regular cats and 2 little cats... but if it has after market exhaust I'm sure it either has no cats or only 2 now...
On some of the Corvettes the gas gauge will stop working for while and then pop back on. I have only had it happen to me once but as soon as I put a little more gas in the tank it started working again. I have talked to some other vette guys that had it happen also.
Good luck man...
