Default M6 guys inside. and former M6'ers I guess...

What clutch do you guys have? What do you like/dislike?

I dont want to spend hella money on one (obviously) if I can avoid it, but if absoltutely necessary I could probably bite the bullet.

I have LTs, ORY, 4.10s, Lid, Exhaust w/ cutout, and a Futral FM14 on the way (which is why I have a feeling the stock clutch with 81k on it wont last much longer)

thanks

Well since I can't sleep tonight guess I'll postwhore and take a stab. I ran a McCleod clutch plate with a new GM pressure plate, Throwbout bearing, etc and a fresh turn on the flywheel when I installed my cam couple years back, running mid 12s with about 366rwhp that clutch never slipped.

Or course the twin disc setups from McCleod, Spec and surprisingly RAM has come out with some nice high hp clutch setups with oversized flywheels to match, etc. Not cheap though.

McCleods replacement clutch over stock was about $115 or so @ Texas Performance by Hobby airport in Houston, think that was the performance store, been awhile.

When I put a new spec 3 and new spec billet flywheel in my camaro, it would shudder your teeth loose if you tried to slip it. It got a lot better after break in, but it was still pretty much "on or off" engagement. Good holding power, but you sacrifice drivability.

Thanks for posting that, I need a serious clutch really soon and have been searching here and camaroz28.com for polls, opinions, etc. I hear good and bad about all of them and at a $1000 to $1400 price tag including flywheel & master cylinder I want to make the right choice the first time. I take it yours doesn't slip at all though when running it hard?

Stage 4 here. Not as bad as you would think. I daily drive it. It will chatter at times, but you will learn to drive around that. Ill prolly go with something different next time around. Something more light weight.

spec 3 here but i can handle chatter.. dont care really what i have as long as the clutch peddle doesnt feel like a poo-nannny and it doesnt slip... 1st spec 3 lasted 40k of street/track driving... i here ls6 clutches are good and wont kill the fly wheel but i have never used it.... maybe want to look into the ls7 clutch and youll have to buy the flywheel with that but will spend allot of money and have a wait time to get it shipped but it will handle whatever youll throw at it and not feel like your leg pressing to push your peddle to the floor

My Cobra has the spec III in it for like three weeks now, and the chatter has gone away at this point.. Still it will chatter slightly at low rpms, but I would def buy it again.

My old car had a spec4 with an aluminum fly...It never chattered and it had pretty much stock clutch feel..And it held great..Ive driven the RAM HD and it holds very well but peddle pressure was stiff and it chattered(it had stock flywheel) Ive installed the Ls7 clutch and they loved it!!Stock peddle feel and it holds 500hp its got a 1 year warranty and works with the stock flywheel..Not a bad deal for under 300bucks forclutch and pressure plate.. And they are in stock.

centerforce dual friction and stock flywheel

works... easy on the foot... grabs up to k rpm with no slip and will likely wear out soon!

only issue is the fluid boiling or getting hot and losing pressure. I also think that with any aftermarket clutch an aftermarket shifter is a must...... I need to upgrade!

I have the new centerforce dual friction 12" clutch. It has a stock feel to it and has excellent street manners! So far i have only been to the track once with it and made 4 passes but it held great! PM Will Baty on here or send me a pm and i'll help you get ahold of him. He will let you know all the specifics on it and you will LOVE his customer service! And in my opinion it is the best bang for the buck!

I'm running a textralia right now. It damn near has the street manners of a stock clutch, but grabs like crazy and you can still slip it. I went from chirping 3rd to roasting them through third.

I had the Mcleod single in 2 Ls1's. Never a problem, even running 10 sec times. I loved it. I had the Spec 3 in an Lt1 and 1 Ls1. They held well; never slipped, but alot of chatter. (It does finally clear out after a good while). I say Mcleod all the way, if you want to spend the money. If you cant afford the million dollor Mcleod but want a good clutch none the less then go Spec. I hate centerforce.. they couldnt hold my nearly stock Lt1. Not to say they dont make a better clutch by now.

I have a stage 3 in the SS, it will whine/chatter a bit accelarating easy from a stop, but it is not that bad, in fact, if you feed it enough rpms it wont make the noise or chatter at all.

Thats what I run and Pwebb runs..
I'm on a stock flywheel with the mcleod master
stiff pedal, no chatter with 3.90s but with the 3.42s it took a little time to get around that.

Spec stg 3 here, it chatterd bad during break in but it is smooth as a stock one now. It handles whatever i throw at it, and is comfortable enough to drive in the street.
