No matter what your not going to stop kids from playing unless you don't buy it for them. What is so hard about disconnecting the timer and just buying a new cord? I didn't play much as a kid but as an adult I play more.

just from looking at the pics I think the locking shell closes on the bigger part of the plug so it locks the plug in the unit. Looks like the opening for the cord is just big enough for the cord so like it traps the plug inside

yeah, but most power cords also unplug from the device itself, so some enterprising young mind will just find/buy another power cord to plug into the "time thief". that is what Mr Yak is saying.
