Question changed pads and caliper won't go on...

I have just finished 3 of the 4 sets of pads and the passenger side caliper will not go back on. This bolt is froze or stuck. How do I get it to move back and forth freely like the lower one?

I have a gap between the piston and the pads. It is that bolt that should foat in and out where you put the screw into and tighten it but it will not move. I can't even turn it with the wrench.

Give it a little tap with a mallet, it should pop back in. Don't wail on it, just a little love tap.

you know you can take those bolts out and grease them up? The calipers slide on them.

same thing happened to me. i found that the rubber flex boot was missing on of of the bolts, so water got in a rusted it shut.

had to disconnect the caliper and torch the bolt/surrounding area and press it out with a vice. thing was STUCK in there and i mean STUCK.

the new bolt/boot assembly from the GM place was like 8$ for a bolt. it was also their last one in stock. if this is your same problem might want to make sure they allready have one there if they have to order.
then again, when mine blew i was in a really small city but whatever.

goodluck.

I had mine get STUCK like a sob. Both were actually. I had to get a blow torch and heat it up around the bolt. Took nearly an hour of torch and pry, torch and pry but it eventually came out

try that

I used the wrong grease once and it froze up. I put the bolt head in a vice and twisted the bracket to free it up!

cheapest place for a caliper mount would be a junk yard or someone on one of the boards parting a car out.

good luck finding one at a junkyard. usually people pilage the whole brake system with that part included.

just torch it, or send it to me and I'll fix it cheap

Just use a torch to heat it up. Mine did the same thing, I didn't have a torch at the time so I got a new bracket since I needed the car running but once I got it all done I borrowed a torch and it came out. I had an extra guid pin sitting here so I threw it in with some grease and it's good to go back on the car just incase I have the problem again. FYI Passanger and Driverside brackets are exactly the same
