Default Need some LT1 help here!

LT1 was running perfect until a month or two ago when it started acting up. Problem is, when the car warms up, while driving it starts to load up. I can let off the gas and it will go away for a second, or if I keep my foot on the gas, it goes nowhere and you can hear it loading up. After about ten seconds of hearing and feeling the car loading up, it takes off. Even when the car is acting up, if I stop somewhere, the idle sounds funny and when i try to take off, the car falls on its face and I have to rev it up alittle bit to go. You can actually hear a different noise in the exhaust and feel the car wants to go nowhere when its acting up. Anybody have any ideas on this? Not knowing what it can be, I've recently done a tune up on the car, plugs, wires, etc. Anybody know whats wrong with the car?

my guess is the optispark is on its way out. I'd make sure a plug wire or something didn't get burned up or fall off first though

Does the car drive normal when it is cold ? If so, then this would definetely be sensor related as certain sensors are not read until the car is warm, such as the O2 sensors. Do you have a check engine light ? I had a similar problem on my LT1 Vette and it was a bad O2 sensor causing one bank of cylinders to get really rich and then it would miss out very badly. Do you notice any black smoke coming out of the exhaust ?

The car has brand new 02's, all the wires are clear of the exhaust, and all the wires are as stated above brand new. What sensors should we check/replace next? Cause that seems like it might be the issue.

I put a copy of this thread into the LT1-LT4 Modifications as well. Maybe get some help in there also.

Here is the link:

Check where the intake bellows attaches to the throttle body, if the boot is torn or not installed correctly it will do that. Or it could be trash on the MAF sensor.

Definetely keep the MAF in mind, I had another car act very similarly once when the MAF began to go as it would run great until it warmed up and once it tried to read from it would barely move.

Either the opti or the engine temp coolant sensor. Scan the car see how the engine temp is reading while its acting up. With the few Lt1's that Ive tuned every table references the coolant table. So these are two possibilities.

Hey guys, thanks a bunch for helping me out. I'm on my sidekick here at work so I don't have much time, but as soon as I get home, I'll check a few things that you guys suggested. I recently changed the plugs/wires/O2s, so I assume its not that stuff. Another thing that's weird, is when I recently tried to plug the hypertec in to see if its in or not ( btw, this is my g/fs car, that's why I don't know) it gave me an error everytime. So I tried plugging my laptop to the car to scan for codes, I couldn't connect to the port. I was told that there's a chance that my communication port is bad??? Anybody know anything about that? If so, what do I need to do to fix/replace it?

What year LT1 is it ? It is probably OBD I and of course woudln't be compatible with anything that would work on your LS1, which is OBD II.

Well its a 94, but the hypertec is for the car and doesn't work now which it use to work months ago, and as far as my laptop, I'm trying to connect it to LT1Edit. I'm not using anything that for an LS1.

Do you think it is possible you have a bad computer ? That would cause all sorts of strange problems if it were to start going.

South Houston. Pearland. That would be awesome. I'd buy you a six-pack or something for it.

Hey thanks for the advice Joe, but I recently changed the 02s and I put a new water pump temp sender in yesterday. So I'm still lost here......
