Things to do in the Galvaston area?

Things to do in the Galvaston area? I am leaving for Galvaston (actually Texas City) next Friday (05/26) and will be there until 06/05. Any car shows or anything to make while I am there?
My girlfriend's brother and his family lives there so we have been there several times in the past, (i.e., been to Mardi Gras in Galvaston, etc.). Just looking for something to occupy my time.

Man i would reccomend going down to the strand on a thurs-sat night, there are a lot of bars there and a diverse group of people. Post office street has a lot of bars, from 24th up to 20th.
