Default Toyota Tundra?

Any one ever own one of these trucks? Comments and opinions? I may post over on the truck site, but wondering if any one has one for a daily driver, I have one friend who has one and he likes it a lot, any one else?

Thanks

I've never owned one, but I smoked the crap out of one when I was stock, lol. You should get a used titan unless thats out of your price range.

Neil,

They're good trucks (even though we hate imports). If I were to get an import thats what I'd get. Although technically they are made in the US.

You ought to wait until the new Silverado comes out this fall.

Thats what I'm doin'

We'll see, I'm throwing around the idea of getting a full size truck, be nice for me to have but not sure If I want to help people move and crap all the time because I know the minute I get one people are going to be asking me. Hows the TA?

I had an '01 Tacoma and it ran great, even though I put it through hell. Some of the other guys I rockcrawled with had Tundras as tow vehicles. Apparently the extended cab runs its *** off and pulls decently for the truck it is. But the 4 door is a little under powered. But Toyota is reliable as hell and my truck was really comfortable.

TA is doing great. I just dropped in a 408 and it runs like a mad bitch. Chuck @ HPE tuned it and did a good job

The numbers aren't that impressive for alot of reasons-Turbo 400, loose convertor. But it runs good which is all that matters to me anyway.

I'm tying up some loose ends then I'm takin it to HRP soon. Going for a 10

FWIW the motor in the Tundra has been less reliable than the 5.3 that comes in most GM trucks. JD power did a survey of the major truck makers I think these were correct
Toyota (4.7) 14 problems per 100 units
GM (5.3) 9 problems per 100

I might be sounding fanboyish, but to me GM > toyota. The only thing I might give Toyota is build quality, but GM is making large improvments in this department. As far as reliablity and other things, GM has toyota beat or equalled.

My 2 cents.

I really don't see a point in buying a Tundra when Silverados and F-150's have proven over and over to be 200,000+ mile vehicles.

A loaded Tundra is probably going to be close to the same price as a Silverado SS.

I hear they get shitty gas mileage too and not as much HP. I did drive one though and really liked it, and you have to love toyota build quality, better than gm's. But I still wouldn't own one.

I'd get a dodge before I would ever buy a ford.

GM > Dodge > Ford > Toyota

Thanks
Awful gas mileage
The bed is super thin and easy to bend (bent 2 beds)
Not that powerful
Great standard features on the V8 model
Not a real full size truck, feels like 9/10ths full size.
Very reliable.

well it was sort of joking, but we beat a 97 Z28 in the tundra. The funny thing was it was my old Z28. No I dont know how your car runs, but if it runs anything like my heads cam LT4 its a 12s beast.
