Its over 100.00. Do not worry about a no front license plate ticket. Those types of tickets do not go on your driving records. In over 9 years none of my cars have ever worn a front license plate. And never will.

I put mine on my passenger visor held on by the band that runs around it. It's not on the front and I cant see it but oncoming cars can. Works out well.

Yea it is kinda funny looking but if you're somewhere you dont want it seen because it looks funny then just put the visor all the way up. I keep it down on the highway and in college station.

I don't know where you get your info from, but when I got a no front plate ticket, an officer of the court actually had to come out to my car and personally inspect it. They would not accept a picture. Happened in Plano.

FYI-

You may get away with it mounted to your sun visor, but that's not necessarily legal. Neither is mounting it to the lower front air dam. It has to be mounted in the correct location to be 100% legal.

It doesn't have to be on the factory location to be legal. The law says nothing about that. It says a plate has to be on the front and the rear of the vehicle. Nothing more. The rest is just interpretation and you can fight that. All it really has to be is visible from the front. (lower air dam really isn't but mine is clearly visible)

Nope I used double stick tape and stuck it on the front of my car, took a picture with my digital camera printed it out and took it in to court.. Dismissed.. Took the plate right back off and still don't have one on..

That is were I got my info from, from person experience, I done it a few times and all have been dismissed.. There is no way I am going to screw a damn plate to my front bumper, I don't want any holes in my car..

I'll look up the law for certain about front plates but the section is 502.404 and 502.409 (thanks K9Kev). Look and read those sections of texas transportation code and find a part where it tells you where to put it on the front of the car.

Also i'll try to find a pic of my car with the plate in the location that i say. I gotta have one somewhere. Send me your email because none of my pics are hosted.

Let's give this a try. I did this really quick from a pic i got this is the best one i got. It's folded up so it's harder to see in pics because i didnt' want it seen in pics. With it folded down you can see it very clearly.

§ 502.404. OPERATION OF VEHICLE WITHOUT LICENSE PLATE OR
REGISTRATION INSIGNIA. (a) A person commits an offense if the person operates on a public highway during a registration period a passenger car or commercial motor vehicle that does not display two license plates, at the front and rear of the vehicle...

The exact wording of the law is that it must be displayed at the front (and rear) of the vehicle.

Bottom line: if you don't have it mounted at the front of the car (where it should be) you can be pulled over and ticketed. Whether the ticket stands will be up to the judge.

Correct "at the front of the vehicle" does it say the front most part of the vehicle? The law is vague and that is where you can probably get it dismissed. Dont take my view on it as absolute but i know how i interpret it and i havn't had a ticket yet.
