Default Is it a Total Loss????

Houston Weather.....Got to love it, I was driving to work this morning when it started raining so hard I couldnt see two feet in front of me, Next thing you know my car is Floating!!!!!! Not really floating but the water was up to the hood, then it stalled, So I called my wife told her to call allstate and stay home it was nasty. Sat in the car till my azz started to get wet then decided to get to higher ground. At this point I hope they total it out because wet cars = Problems forever. So what do you guys thing Totaled or not?????? Water was up almost to the dash.

it will depend on how the car is still worth -- if the damage is more (which it will most likely be) than the cars worth than yes. -- usely if water gets that high on the jaguars/land rovers that i work on, that is usally enough to total one.

sorry about the car bro.

Usually they total them once water gets to the dash. That sucks, but for your sake, I hope they total it too.

I am really sorry to hear about this, it makes me sad to know another f-body was lost.

You should hope they total it, or you are going to have all sorts of problems, especially if you left it running untill it died. Water in the engine = no bueno

What part of town were you in? It is probably done, sorry, but at least it sounds like you can turn this into a positive if they total it.

There is so much work to do on a flooded car, you are better off if they do total it honestly.

I flooded my car the same day off of Champion Forest Drive. The water only got to the floor board so they won't total it. I did sieze the block though. It's a good thing that they won't total my car because they will only give you 50%-60% of the car's worth. I still owe $12,500. So if they say my car is worth $16,000, I only get $8,000-$9,600 for it. So, now I get the max amount just before the "totaled" limit and build me a super fat motor! Good luck with your car, I hope it works out for you!

both times I have had a vehicle totaled, my insurance company gave me NADA Retail + TT&L. They will give you replacement value for the car.

My CRX had a competition stereo in the car and they even gave me MSRP to replace the equipment that was lost in the accident.
