Default Clemens first start

So whos going where to watch the game? I've missed the last few games, but I figured I would watch this one since its his first start back.

Anybody actually doing anything for the game or does anybody actually even care?

They will lose, they never gave him run support last year. Same team different year.

You do realize that the pitcher has nothing to do with the teams offense....

You do realise he has a very ineffective at bat usually the # 9 hitter. But the point you missed is that he had the team setup in good posistion last year to win mutiple times but they did not come through with run support. The win or the loss goes to him and to the team, so there offense or lack of it affect his ability to do his part to hold the team in the game.

This year's team is scoring WAY more runs than last year's.

Man, I might have missed how the season ended last year? I know they didnt win it all but how far did the Astros get?

Whats that one series that the two best teams play in? Its not the division series, its not the leage championship series...damn, whats it called?

Oh ya, the World Series. The Astros made it to the World Series, that means they were the best team in the National League.

This year they are scoring more runs, they have Mike Lamb and Chris Burke in the lineup everyday and they are about 10 games ahead of where they were last year.

Even if they lose tonight, Clemens is a huge help to the team. Even if he doesnt win 10 games, just the fact that Roger Clemens is in the clubhouse helps tremendously.

So, I guess, yes it is the same team that got to the world series, only with Preston Wilson, who has been a little bit disappointing, but he's still some power. Plus they've had a healthy Berkman all year, and Burke is playing pretty damned good, and Lamb has been really hot, but ya, its still that same team that got to the World Series.

Like I said, the pitcher on the OTHER team is what will determine how many runs the Astros score, and please tell me which Astros pitchers offer ANYTHING at the plate, lol. I understand last year it seemed as if whenever he pitched they coulnt score, but it was just a coincidence.

I thought he pitched pretty good. He was hitting his spots, his velocity was a little lower than I expected, but pretty damn good for the 3rd or 4th pitcher in the rotation.

He pitched fine. Our batting was off, but props to their pitcher. He had a very good outing.

The other pitcher has something to do with the oppositions run production yes, but so does the bats of the Astros. Coincidence ? I dunno about that but hey it got them to the show last year and although they lost getting there was a BIG step.

I have noticed there run production is up I should have clarified that I believed they where going to lose last night just because the hype of the Rocket's return. And that Preston Wilson seems like a pretty good player in the making. It is good to see the Asttros with an All-American black guy, I remember a while back on 610 AM callers asking if the Astros where racist !! How absured I know but yet had a valid view since it was and is the whitest line up.

And what is the status on Bagwell ? I have not heard or tried to find anything out on that.

Bags is pretty much done. From what I've read he's not really trying to rehab all that much. He just got back from Rome and he's been living in Mexico.

The Astros already pretty much kicked him out the door, which I think is bullshit, but he got the point. Now he just gets to sit back, relax and collect his 18 million this year. Make his retirement official after the season is over, and wait for that phone call from the Hall of Fame.

First ballot HOF ? One of my all time favorite players is Biggio that man is what real baseball is all about. If he could pitch man he would be a 1920's throw back type.

I dont think Bagwell will necessarily be a first ballet HOF, but I think he will get in.

Biggio is one of my favorites too, I met him when I was a kid out at the Nolan Ryan Invitational Golf tournament, and he's just as nice in person and he seems to be on tv. He's a standup guy no doubt. He's the one I'll really be pulling for when it comes to the hall.

Would have been even more encouraging if he could have stretched into the 7th inning. Took him 100 pitches to get through the 5th. He'll have to rely more on the middle relief/bullpen more than ever.

The kid who pitched last night is nasty. Great stuff, like J. Santana's lost twin. No shame in Rocket losing to him.

As for Bags, he'll be a first ballot HOF. Book it.

The fact that he only got 5 innings in wasnt really a big deterrent for me. You have to think, Clemens has always been a guy that carried a high pitch count. He's a guy that will wont give in, he'll keep putting the ball 2 inches off the plate til he gets the call. I think the more stamina he gets back, the more pitches he'll pile up and I think he can take it in the 7th no problems. At least I'm hoping so.
