i run a 8500 x50. no complaints here. smaller profile than the V1 which I like. Same features pretty much. I don't need to be told where the cop car is, its usually pretty obvious if you know how to read terrain.

It gives direction, which I like. I counts the total number of sources, which I like. It has three different levels of logic (i.e. what and what not to alert you to). The laser detection is supposedly not quite as good, but if you detect laser, it's probably too late anyway. Also, it's upgradeable. If they come out with something new, you can have them update it for usually a small fee ($50-$100), instead of buying a new one.

Again, I say Valentine 1.

I think Maxim tested them and theres others that are cheaper and perform just as well. The only advantage to the Valentine is it gives relative direction from where the radar is being shot.

This long *** article i read says the passport picks up laser slightly better and valentine radar. Or something like that i know if you get picked up on laser you've already lost anyways. They both have their advantages like said above, but every cannonball rally car or whatever ive seen has both so idk.

The only reason mt 8500(pre X50) has let me down was because I was WOT with the tops off and just couldnt hear it.

A coworker and I were looking at radar detectors and he bought the passport and me the V1. We went on a trip to LA and mine picked them up a good distance earlier and once he never even got a signal. Overall I'd say they are pretty close with the V1 having an extra feature or two. You just have to decide if they are worth the extra $100.

Bel RX 65 pro, beat them all out. I have a Passport X50 now, had it a while. So need to upgrade. Take a look at radar roys websight, you can learn all you need about radars.

I have an 8500 x50 and a V1. I like the Escort better .. I don't see enough difference between the two to justify the extra money for the V1.

The Escort does seem to false less frequently.

9500 ix or v1 , it depends on the magazine or person , they are neck and neck , i think the 9500ix has the best features , who cares where the radar is coming from , when it goes off i slow down or check my speed.

Depends on who tests, I think some of them have bias one way or another. I like my Passport X50 though
