Check to make sure you gas nozzle is screwed on tightly. You could be throwing an evap code if you didnt turn it enough or screw it on properly.
As far as shell on I have run 11's on their gas.

V-power is oxygenated fuel and if you were tuned up
tight on 93 octane straight gasoline you could run into
some lean / ping conditions. Let alone if your setup
had some pre-existing lean error. My car pinged badly
and was down on power the one and only time I put
that save-the-planet ****-water in my tank.

Diamond Shamrock gets their gas from Valero.....definitely not leftovers. Valero is the largest or next to the largest gasoline refiner. There are no leftovers when it comes to gas. Regardless of the refinery, it all goes into a pipeline. EVERYONE puts gas into it. So if Exxon put 1.5million gallons in, they can take 1.5million gallons out, but there is no way of knowing it was the same 1.5million gallons that they put in since all the other refiners are dumping in there as well. The difference comes between the pipeline and pump... thats when the different retailers add their additives such as Vpower and Techron.

A lot of it has to do with the particular station, more than the brand. All it takes is a little crap in the tanks at the station and you'll have all kinds of weird problems. The Conoco near my house consistantly gives my Camaro and my wife's Equinox fits. Every other Conoco causes no problems.
