I thought it was pretty bad *** myself. I was worried about it not being that great since Maynard was sick but he did an awesome job.

my 5th time seeing Tool. they played solid, and the sound quality was great. my only complaint was that they didnt play any songs off Opiate or Undertow, and generally speaking, the setlist was a bit too mellow... which is pretty much the feel of the new album, and seems to be the direction they are taking hte band. I do like that they played Rosetta Stoned... i like that song... nice and weird!

i've always said that Tool is a modern day Pink Floyd, except that PF moved from psycadellic rock to more mainstream, and Tool is moving from mainstream to psychadellic. on the last tour, i saw tool 3 times. each of those 3 times they played the entire thing of Reflection/Disposition/Triad, which comes out to like over 30 minutes... its ok, but they could have used that time to play 4-5 more 'regular' songs instead of a 30minute long chill session.

one of the times i saw tool, maynard never faced the crowd once. he stood sideways when singing, and if he talked directly to the crowd, he would face the back wall... very strange man.

i did like the ATF jacket though!

yeah the sound and music and all that was good but the stage was huge and no body moved except for maynard and it was like 2 steps to get his water bottle.. dont get me wrong mellow is good but when your rockn out freakn rock out! I was litteraly ganna fall asleep half way threw..

prolly didn't help all the second hand pot smoke in that place

but there was just no energy to feed off of from the band, i guess thats why i didn't like it im used to the Godsmack Rob Zombie or the Blink and Green Day concerts where its just insane and there is so much goin on and its Rockn at the same time.
well theres my .02

How's this for crowd interaction LOL. It's Tool playing Jerk Off live back in '92. Maynard never takes his eyes off of who ever he is staring at. I think I would freak out a little if I was the guy being stared at through the whole song.

Jerk off live

Or this one where he takes a fan down that jumps on stage, pins him there and keeps singing.

Maynard takes down a fan

tool doesn't need to do all that.

if you don't "get" the music, then you won't understand.

they're not your standard rock band.

Lateralus lyrics-

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn beyond the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see there is so much more
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out,
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

Spiral out. Keep going, going...

Which is why I am glad that I didnt go to that show. Nothing personal towards you, but I was lucky enough to win tickets to the May 8 show at SMU, and it was the most electryifing show that I have been to. They took about a 5 minute break, it was the loudest crowd I have ever heard in my life... for 5 solid minutes. The band looked pretty suprised as well. No more big shows for me. Ever since I saw APC on their first tour I have been against going to a big show... something about the audience wanting to hear Tool songs just irked me.

Your absolutely right. I wish though that they would play some older songs just for kicks. I still don't know when they will be coming back to San Antonio

ther were supposed to play opiate, but i guess they didn't at some of the shows.

i read the sa show was rescheduled to october sometime

http://toolshed.down.net/news/

Tonight's show in San Antonio has been postponed. The venue's website says the following:

"The September 12 show with TOOL at the AT&T Center in San Antonio has been postponed due to illness. The September 12 show will be rescheduled for another date and all tickets purchased for the September 12 show will be honored for that rescheduled performance. Information regarding the rescheduled date will be forthcoming. Once the rescheduled date has been announced, if you are unable to attend, refunds will be made available at the point of purchase."

Based on the reviews we've gotten from the last few nights, the illness mentioned is likely Maynard being sick. §

that looks rigged to me... security would have been all over that guy in seconds. and if that was a real struggle, maynard woudlnt have been able to sing so easily... unless of course the guy just sat there with a hardon because maynard was straddling him

There is nothing wrong with liking Tool and assload, hell I do. I have been listening to Tool since Undertow came out. But those fans didnt realize that Maynard was the only Tool member in APC.... and they thought that Paz was a man, calling her a *** and such becasue SHE was wearing a dress... until they realized that Paz was a girl, then started yelling "Show us your ****!!!"
