Default Gas mileage difference with trailered car?

We're going to Belle Rose next weekend for the Track Day event, and we're trying to decide whether to bring one of the cars along on the trip. Normally the truck gets like 14mpg on the highway. How big of a difference do you think it will make if we bring the car along on a trailer? Do you think it would be worth it, or should we just leave it at home?

depends on the truck. Gas or diesel?

My 02 GMC (gas) would get 17 mpg unloaded, 12 mpg towing a car
My 04 Ram (diesel) would get 19 mpg unloaded, 15 mpg towing a car

It's an 01 5.3L extended cab 4x4. From looking at these responses, I probably won't do any better than about 10mpg loaded.

My 01 2500HD 8.1/Ally/CC/SB gets 12-13 unloaded and about 9 loaded.

I pull a 28' enclosed trailer that weighs 10K lbs when loaded for a race weekend

I get 16-17 with my 05 Dramax Crew cab 4x4 unloaded and pulling the 26 foot enclosed with one of the Camaros, I get 14-15.
Balancing the vehicle on the trailer properly, can affect how the trailer pulls, which in turn affects the fuel mileage of the towing vehicle.

Yeah that's why it sits in the driveway most of the time.

Some of it will depend how you drive. My dad always gets better mileage than me pulling the boat, but then agian I drive 80, even when going up the hills.
