Default Pics of my new tow rig!

07 GMC classic k1500... It's a nice daily driver upgrade from my 94 accord, and it's my first brand new vehicle, I'm thrilled shitless.

and the reason I bought it...

It's just a 4.8, but it's got 3.73's so it moves pretty good, and it will probably get the regular bolt ons to help things out.

I know people will ask, so... The sticker was 30k and I got 4k in rebates + some other rebates (they cut out most of the rebates on 07's) so I paid $24,600.

They are 28's, but they didn't rub at all until the torque arm bent and the rear end shifted back causeing the tires to rub on the bumper.

at the time it had 26" tires on it, and with 4.10's it would run out of gear before I got to the traps (hit the rev limiter). I could have shifted to 5th, but it was to hard to disarm the nitrous and and shift to 5th in time. My switches are kinda hidden for cleanlyness.

i wouldn't try to tow anything with that little 4.8. mine runs ok (reg cab short bed) unloaded but i have all the bolt ons, cam, heads, etc. but as soon as i even hook up to a boat (light boat too...#1600 with trailer) it feels like a turd. can't imagine what it would do with a 3200# car and trailer behind it.

Thanks for the complements guys. Now I just need to slap the hitch on it, and find a nice trailer. I'm going to do a little looking around and see what exhaust I want to put on it. Probably a single magnaflow strait though like the ones on my car with a turn down. I think I'll crank up the torsion bars a little and then align it before I quit my job at the dealership

I pulled my car from red river raceway to shreveport in a buddies v6 ford, I think this truck can handle it.

Edit: the 4.8 only has 10hp, and 30ft lbs of torque less than the 5.3

you're talking PEAK horsepower and torque.... the power where it counts in the 4.8 is not there, but way up high around 5300rpm the 4.8L can pull hard...mine does.

Thats what I figured, I'm not scared to make that bitch scream when I'm towing. Hell, if it isn't enough, I'll put a 6.0 in it. I'de still rather have a truck that feels like a turd than have no tuck at all. It sucks big ones when your car breaks over 100 miles from home and you drove it out there.

Great choice , don't worry about the 4.8 it will hang with most
5.3's and do just about anything you will need to do.

Nice truck. I'm sure it will be fine for towing as long as you aren't going up and down hills constantly. I've got an 03 2wd sierra 4.8 myself.

Thanks Jack. You remember Doug from lufkin? He used to have a black cobra, he said he knew you. I can't remember his last name right now.
