Default WTB: Chevy SB/BB short/long block or suggestions on where to have one built?

My cousin is looking to get his '7X model Chevrolet truck back on the road and wants to either buy a Chevy short/long block, small or big block depending on price. He isn't looking for anything radical, just something to drive daily. Doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money either. I believe he is using a Muncie 4 speed, but I'm sure will be open for suggestions.

If no one out there has anything, where/who would be a good place to have one rebuilt? He has a 350 now that he could rebuild, but doesn't have the slightest clue where to take it, what parts to use, brands, etc. Again, he is looking for a budget build, so cheaper is better. If anyone has any leads, please let me know and I'll pass it on. Thanks!

Anyone? Looking for either a budget Chevy engine or a good place to get an engine built for a cheap price. This is for a family member. Thanks.

I have a buddy with a 385 stroker short block for sale, kieth black pistons, scat forged crank, stock Corvette rods ,its a 77-79 Corvette block, 4-bolt main. There is also a cam that comes with it, its prety radical, I think its for a circle track. I can get the specs if you want. He said he will take $1000 for all of it, but I am sure he will work with ya if your serious.--Tony

Where's your buddy or the block located?

77-79 Chevy Corvette 350 4 bolt main
385 stroker
Keith Black pistons
Scat forged crank
Stock Corvette rods
Cam
$1000 negotiable

Could you get the specs on the cam? What size bore and stroke? Compression? What else is including since it has the cam?

Its here in Lewisville (just north of Dallas), he lives like 5 miles from me. All that he has is the block, pistons, crank, rods and cam. All the bearings are in the motor too, but he can't remember what they are. Compression depends on what heads you end up using. I know its a .040 over bore, not sure of the stroke though, I can ask him today.--Tony

An .04 overbore and a final displacement of 385.x = a stroke of 3.75 .

The short block tony is talking about is mine,
Here are some pics of the cam and cam spec card, i couldnt find the ones of the short block so ill take some more and post them up. Everything has 0 miles on it, it was a fresh rebuild and i never did anything with it.

Are the pistons dished, flat, or domed? What cc? My cousin stated that he has 350 heads, but that really doesn't say much because there's tons of them. I told him to get the casting number off of them and I could look them up to see what specifications are on them, then have a better idea what kind of compression ratio we're looking at.

Keith Black part # kb135
They are dished 18cc pistons

compression ratios
58cc = 10.3:1
62cc = 9.9:1
64cc = 9.7:1
76cc = 8.7:1

How soon are you looking to get rid of it? My cousin said he was extremely serious, but needs a little time to gather up the money? What did you plan on doing with the motor, forced induction?

I had a good feeling about that. I'll let you know when my cousin comes up with the money. Its for him.
