Can you get fired while your on approved vacation?
I was reading my termination papers today and I saw that the date that I was let go was on an approved vacation date. Just wanted to if this was legal and if so why they waited 10 days to tell me.

i would suggest the same thing...its pretty messed up. Unless you signed a contract with the company that says they can fire you or release you with out any given warning.

Texas is a right to work state which means that your employeer can fire you at any given time for any reason they choose and basically you have no legal recourse, union jobs are otherwise.

shitty, i got the call while i was making up my reserve time. so i thought i had a pretty strong case against them but they went and back dated it. i guess maybe to avoid me getting the department of labor involved.

Except when you have a "contract" for employment.

Fire at will state....they can fire you for any reason unless it is race, color, sex or religion related.
Basicly monster.com should be the web site you are looking at next not smartpages.com to look for a lawyer. Just my .02 cents

Yep, firing date doesn't matter. They don't even HAVE to tell you WHY!
Just like when you quit, you as an employee don't HAVE to give two weeks, just not show up/call!
Right to work, right to fire, right to quit state.
